Job Description:
CARR Biosystems is seeking a Director of People to strengthen our culture and improve business results. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team reporting to the CEO, you will set and deliver the people strategy that supports growth, operational effectiveness, and “people & performance in harmony.” You will partner closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to help lead the business through its people. Our leaders take initiative and help shape the agenda. If you’re ready to lead culture and performance together, we’d like to meet you.
About you:
• You learn the business quickly, connect culture to results, and act proactively with a long-term view.
• You’re a hands-on leader who advises senior leaders, improves the team member experience, and brings strong HR operations and employment-law knowledge (global exposure a plus).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Align People & Culture work to CARR’s strategy, growth goals, and measurable business outcomes—leveraging Barry-Wehmiller resources where helpful.
2. Build an inclusive, high-trust culture. Run engagement (pulse surveys, listening sessions), turn insights into action, and oversee the CARR Cellebrators team plus company-wide communication and recognition.
3. Lead leadership development and performance management. Coach leaders through performance and employee relations issues, ensuring fair, compliant practices across locations.
4. Lead workforce planning, succession planning, org design, and talent pipelines—including recruiting and onboarding—to build leadership capacity and retention.
5. Oversee compensation, incentives, and benefits to ensure market competitiveness, internal equity, and legal compliance; adjust programs to support performance and retention.
6. Use metrics and dashboards to guide decisions and measure impact. Manage the People Team budget and lead process improvements to streamline HR work, update policies, and improve the team member experience.
7. Lead continuous improvement of People processes, structures, and tools, including redesigning work for AI collaboration where needed.
Qualifications:
a) Education & experience: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (Master’s/HR certification preferred). 5+ years of progressive HR experience, including 2+ years leading people with strategic impact.
b) Strategic, results-focused leader: Strong business judgment with a track record of translating business needs into people plans that improve performance, talent quality, and engagement. Experience influencing senior executives, assessing org structure, and supporting acquisition integrations.
c) Communication & influence: Clear writer and presenter who can coach and challenge leaders with good judgment. Strong relationship-building skills across levels.
d) People-centered change leader: High empathy and integrity with the ability to build an inclusive, high-trust culture aligned to Truly Human Leadership. Able to lead teams through growth and change (multi-site/international experience a plus; interest in new tools, including AI, welcomed).
e) HR expertise: Broad HR knowledge across talent, leadership development, and org development. Working knowledge of U.S. multi-state employment law; global HR compliance exposure is a plus.
f) Analytical & tech-savvy: Experience tracking HR metrics and using HRIS/analytics tools. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills for analysis and storytelling.
