Position Overview
The People & Culture Generalist plays a key role in supporting employees and leaders across the organization by supporting core HR, culture, and operational functions. This role is highly hands-on and serves as a central point of coordination for recruiting, onboarding, employee communications, benefits administration, events, and day-to-day people operations. The ideal candidate is organized, approachable, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities while supporting a positive, safety-focused workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
Culture, Communication & Engagement
- Create and distribute the company newsletter.
- Manage pulse surveys and assist with employee engagement initiatives.
- Maintain the Share Board and employee communication platforms.
- Plan and support divisional and company-wide events and employee engagement activities.
- Oversee company and departmental calendars, including holidays, safety events, company-wide meetings, and social events.
- Support company share point management, ensuring resources are current and accessible.
- Schedule and send weekly employee text messages (e.g., birthdays, meetings, reminders).
- Assist with general administrative and people-related process improvements.
People Operations & Employee Support
- Upload and manage employee documentation in Paylocity, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support employees with laptops, phones, IT coordination, and basic troubleshooting.
- Administer technician licensing processes, including renewals; assist with documentation and application submissions; and ensure employee certifications and journeyman jacket patches are updated as required.
- Order business cards, badges, stamps, clothing, and other employee resources.
- Manage and communicate on-call schedules.
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Post open positions and manage recruiting efforts through Indeed and other platforms.
- Coordinate background checks, driving record checks, and pre-employment requirements.
- Assist with onboarding new hires, including phone setup, photos, swag, office tours, and system access.
- Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment and onboarding process.
Benefits & Compliance
- Coordinate new hire benefits enrollment, including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
- Supports the annual open enrollment process including communications and informational sessions with employees.
- Serves as the first point of contact for employee benefits inquiries and processes qualifying events.
- Coordinates with benefit carriers and the HR Director on plan administration and vendor issues as needed.
- Administers all leaves of absence in accordance with FMLA, Washington Paid Family & Medical Leave (PFML), and organizational policy.
- Conducts regular audits to identify and correct data discrepancies across HR systems

- Salary Range $32 - $37 per hour
Requirements
- 2-3 years Human Resources experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working with HRIS platforms (Paylocity or similar).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and workplace technology tools.
- High level of discretion when handling confidential information.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with leadership and staff.
Skills Required
