General Summary:
At Vertex, the People Advisor delivers high-quality, manager-facing HR advisory support across the employee lifecycle. This role partners closely with leaders to enable effective people decisions, translate business needs into talent actions, and drive a consistently positive employee experience.
Operating within a modern HR model, the People Advisor focuses on strategic consulting and advisory work while partnering with HR Business Partners, Employee Relations, HR Operations, and Centers of Excellence to deliver scalable, consistent support globally.
Key Responsibilities
Manager Coaching, Advisory & Early Intervention
- Coach managers through performance, conduct, and team effectiveness challenges
- Provide guidance on policy interpretation and consistent application across geographies
- Support early intervention in complex or sensitive employee situations, assessing risk and recommending next steps
- Partner with Employee Relations on matters requiring formal investigation or action
Strategic Talent Consulting
- Partner with managers on workforce planning, organizational design, and role clarity
- Assess people implications of business and operating model changes and provide actionable recommendations
- Translate business needs into practical talent decisions that balance short- and long-term priorities
- Support restructuring efforts, role changes, and work shifts
People Intelligence & Organizational Health
- Analyze workforce and talent data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Monitor organizational health indicators and emerging challenges
- Conduct targeted diagnostics and deliver clear, actionable insights
Talent Strategy Activation & Enablement
- Support rollout and adoption of enterprise talent programs (e.g., performance, succession, development, rewards)
- Equip managers with practical tools and guidance to drive consistent execution
- Reinforce standard processes and ways of working
- Partner with Centers of Excellence to enable scalable, business-relevant delivery
Employee & Employment Lifecycle Advisory
- Advise on key employment moments, including hiring, onboarding, performance, promotion, and compensation cycles
- Support leave of absence and return-to-work planning
- Guide workplace accommodations and adjustments in line with local practices
- Support sensitive transitions, including role changes and involuntary separations
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 4+ years of experience in HR advisory, HR business partnering, or employee relations roles
- Demonstrated ability to coach and influence managers through complex people situations
- Experience interpreting and applying HR policies in a consistent, practical way
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across business and HR partners
