Since 1992, we’ve been at the forefront of behavioral health crisis care — providing timely, community-based services for individuals and families experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist for CarePoint’s Mobile Response Team. Mobile teams provide supportive, person-focused services for individuals experiencing behavioral health crises and substance use challenges. Mobile teams respond in the community to homes and other community locations – wherever the individual in crisis needs support. As someone with lived experience, you will work alongside clinicians and community partners to guide individuals through recovery, connect them to vital resources, and empower them to take the next step toward wellness.

What You’ll Do

• Respond in the community in teams of two to provide compassionate support to individuals experiencing behavioral health or substance use related crisis.
• Work collaboratively with clinicians, peers, and community partners to support individuals through crisis and recovery.
• Assist individuals in crisis with developing a crisis plan, linking to care, and accessing recovery tools before the first engagement concludes.
• Facilitate engagement and help individuals feel welcome, safe, and supported.
• Support continuity of care by connecting individuals to behavioral health, substance use, peer recovery, and community resources.
• Build strong partnerships with substance use services, behavioral health providers, community outreach organizations, and peer recovery networks.
• Document individual interactions accurately and in a timely manner.
• Empower individuals to become self-advocates for their recovery and wellness.
• Apply a strengths-based perspective to all interactions, providing encouragement and hope.
• Act as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
• Adhere to CarePoint Response policies, expectations, and professional competencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional

• Valid driver’s license

Physical Demands

• Moderate walking, standing, climbing stairs, and sitting required. Light lifting may be required. Transportation of clients and their belongings in agency vehicles. Minimal support and assistance with client care needs.

Working Conditions:

• Works as part of a Mobile Team, which provides services in the community. Visit clients in various community settings and on the streets. When in the office, work generally in well-lighted and ventilated office environment.

• Potential exposure to highly charged, stressful and emotional situations, potential exposure to aggressive encounters.
