Role and responsibilities
As a PCBA Designer, you will define, realize, qualify, document, manage and maintain various electronic circuit designs by using Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) technology for both existing and new ASML products. Furthermore, you will contribute to defining the next generation of these products in close cooperation with the electronics architect.
A PCBA Designer within PCBA and ELF Design Group is responsible for the following:
- Design electronic circuits by using PCBA technology
- Requirement engineering: Define, align and agree on functional and performance requirements
- Concept design: Perform trade-off studies to determine the preferred implementation scenario for new or changed functions and get agreement with stakeholders
- Detailed design: Work on final implementation in accordance with design guidelines and rules
- Verification: Verify functionality and performance of the design under specified conditions
- Documentation: Document all steps for review moments, knowledge transfer and traceability
- Take ownership and manage the partial/entire design from start to end
- Know stakeholders and manage expectations
- Make work breakdown and effort estimation for the various designs, adjusted with other stakeholders
- Act as the Electronic Development representative in a multidisciplinary design team
- Interact intensively with colleagues from other groups and departments when required
- Support and, if needed, coordinate outsourced development activities at co-developers
- Contribute to the multidisciplinary roadmap concerning PCBA designs within the ASML products
- Contribute to analysis and solution of reliability issues
Education and experience
- Master degree or higher in electrical engineering
- Broad technical knowledge of electronics with basic knowledge of physics, mechanics, mechatronics and software.

The sector Development & Engineering (D&E) of ASML is responsible for the specification, design and realization of the products in the ASML portfolio. Within the sector D&E, the department Electronics Development (EDEV) is responsible for the definition, realization, qualification and integration of electronic functions and modules within these products.
The PCBA Designer reports to Team Leader of PCBA Team, as part of EUV PCBA and ELF Design Group..
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
