Position SummaryThe Payroll Specialist will perform payroll duties to ensure accuracy with current payroll processes and entries, continuously operating in a detail-oriented manner to be sure all established service levels of the payroll process are met in a timely and precise fashion.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Enters, maintains, and processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses, per diem or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, absences, and other information.
  • Audit and reconcile per diem per IRS guidelines.
  • Analyze, prepare, process, and reconcile weekly and/or biweekly payroll.
  • Maintain data integrity between payroll systems.
  • Gather, key, export, and audit timekeeping data.
  • Research time discrepancies and make corrections.
  • Ensure accurate processing of payroll deductions.
  • Audit 401k deductions and changes.
  • Completes Verification of Employment requests and employee requests for hours for license requirements.
  • Respond to employee and management inquiries regarding payroll matters.
  • Audit new hire information.
  • Set up and issue pay cards to employees.
  • Assist management with training on payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Assist management in creating weekly payroll reports or ad hoc reporting requests.
  • Assist with trade program reporting as they relate to payroll (apprenticeship programs, IEC, CEF, etc.)
  • Assist with completion and distribution of OCIP, CCIP and Certified Payroll Reports.
  • Backup to Senior Payroll Specialist.
  • Assist with compensation management projects.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3-5 years’ payroll experience required.
  • FCP or CPP certification a plus.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
  • Construction industry experience a plus.
