The Payroll Manager leads and actively contributes to enterprise payroll operations, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for all employees. Responsibilities- Lead, coach, and develop the payroll team by setting clear expectations, delegating effectively, and ensuring timely, accurate payroll processing
- Take a hands-on approach to payroll operations, including troubleshooting systems and resolving complex payroll issues
- Manage and optimize payroll systems, including Oracle Cloud Payroll and Labor Management Systems, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions
- Partner with the People team to analyze payroll trends and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Prepare, audit, and reconcile payroll reports and statements with a strong focus on compliance
- Maintain and update payroll policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with union agreements and regulatory requirements
- Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll laws, applying updates to processes as needed
- Travel up to 20% to support on-site payroll operations, training, and issue resolution
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification
- 4 or more years of experience processing in-house payroll for a multi-state organization with 1,000+ employees, including union populations
- Strong experience in payroll problem-solving, systems troubleshooting, and process improvement
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a detail-oriented environment

- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated success leading teams in a fast-paced environment
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations

Base Pay Information

Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental’s assessment of the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications, and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
