Our growing consulting firm is seeking a Payroll Administrator to help with payroll operations. This position will be responsible for entering new hires into our payroll software, updating various fields in our payroll to include compensation, deductions, direct deposit, paid time off accruals, etc. The ideal candidate should have experience with payroll processing and journal entries, along with a strong familiarity with Payroll Software and Microsoft Office. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Review timesheets for accuracy and policy compliance
- Process multi-state and multi-entity payroll, including recording of earnings/deductions/garnishment/direct deposit/taxes
- Reconcile and record payroll in accounting software
- Resolve payroll issues/discrepancies
- Maintain payroll records
- Assist with payroll audits and ad-hoc reporting
- Assist with state tax registrations and tax notices
- Respond to payroll inquiries from employees
- Work closely with HR and finance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to effectively multi-task and remain calm under pressure while ensuring tight deadlines are met
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels in written and verbal format
- Understanding of DOL laws
- Time management and strong organizational skills
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Puerto Rico payroll is a plus
- Experience with Paylocity and Intacct is a plus
- Team player
Education and Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar field preferred
- 2-3 years of multi-state and multi-entity payroll experience
