As the Senior Product Manager for the Payment squad, you will lead the evolution of our global transaction engine, ensuring a seamless and reliable experience for millions of travelers. Your mission is to build a robust, scalable payment infrastructure that supports BlaBlaCar’s multimodal and international growth. You will be responsible for optimizing every step of the payment lifecycle—from checkout conversion and authorization rates to payout flows and fraud prevention.
You will play a strategic role in transforming our payment landscape, moving toward a flexible and resilient architecture. This involves integrating diverse local payment methods, enhancing our promotional capabilities through advanced discount systems, and streamlining financial operations. By bridging technical complexity with user-centric design, you will remove transactional friction and directly contribute to the company's profitability and global scale.
You will co-lead the squad with an Engineering Manager and partner closely with Finance, Product Operations, Data, and other Product leaders to align our payment infrastructure with the company's broader strategic priorities.
Your responsibilitiesShape the payment strategy & roadmap: Define the long-term vision, success metrics, and product roadmap for BlaBlaCar’s global transaction engine. Secure strong alignment from leadership and cross-functional partners to ensure our infrastructure scales with multimodal and international growth.
Enable strategic payment capabilities: Lead product discovery and delivery for high-stakes, revenue-driving features. This encompasses both infrastructure evolutions—such as driving the product strategy for our multi-PSP payment orchestrator and scalable routing rules in tandem with Product Operations —and business-facing capabilities like launching local payment methods, advanced promotional/discount systems, and subscription models.
Own payment performance & KPIs: Establish internal targets and drive cross-functional alignment to monitor core transaction health. Be accountable for maximizing authorization rates and transaction reliability across all 18 locales.
Drive bottom-line impact via funnel optimization: Deeply analyze the end-to-end checkout and payout flows. Continuously optimize passenger checkout and driver payout experiences by identifying initiatives that eliminate technical friction, reduce technical errors, decrease time-to-resolution, and minimize operational costs.
Navigate complex stakeholder alignment: Drive alignment across a matrix of internal teams (including Finance, Legal, Customer Care, and Product Operations), balancing a frictionless user experience with compliance, internal priorities, and legal frameworks.
Cultivate strategic partnerships with global and local Payment Service Providers to stay ahead of fintech trends and ensure top-tier infrastructure performance.
Oversee technical integrations & squad execution: Co-lead execution hand-in-hand with your Engineering Manager and a full-stack squad of 10 engineers, translating complex architectural shifts into deliverable MVPs and overseeing complex technical integrations.
- Experience: 5+ years of Product Management in a scale-up or large tech company, with direct experience in Fintech or Payments (PSPs, financial flows, orchestration).
Strong understanding of the payment ecosystem across emerging markets, particularly Brazil, India, and Mexico, is highly valued but optional.
Problem-Solving: Proven ability to simplify complex technical and financial constraints into scalable, frictionless user experiences.
Stakeholder Influence: Strong interpersonal skills to navigate cross-functional relationships (other Product and engineering teams, Finance, Fraud, Engineering, Care), gain buy-in, and clearly communicate prioritization decisions.
Hands-On Operator: Highly analytical and willing to step outside traditional product boundaries—diving deep into data and operations to move the needle on critical KPIs (authorization rates, costs).
Languages: Full fluency in English is mandatory.
The Demand Team: The Payment squad is a core pillar of the Demand team, which owns the end-to-end passenger experience across 5 dedicated squads (Discover, Search, Booking, Payment, and Post-booking).
Your Squad: You will co-lead the Payment squad alongside 1 Engineering Manager and a team of 10 engineers.
External Stakeholders: Global and local Payment Service Providers (e.g., Adyen) and payment orchestration platform(s).
Internal Stakeholders: Fraud & Risk, Accounting & Finance, Data, Customer Care, Product Operations, all other Product Managers and Business teams
