Overview SME Europe
Mastercard's Commercial & New Payment Flows (CNPF) business is focused on digitizing and scaling payment opportunities by capturing new payment flows including B2B transactions. Within CNPF, Mastercard's Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) business is focused on Boosting differentiated propositions that cater for SME specific needs including through Partnerships, Data Driven Sales & Customer Engagement, and Channel Distribution with non-traditional players include SME Wholesalers, ISVs and Payment Facilitators.
The SME segment represents a strategic priority, aiming to empower underserved businesses by simplifying payment acceptance and supplier payments, improving cash flow through innovative solutions, fostering digital transformation, and driving financial inclusion through strong partnerships with banks, fintechs, and platform providers.
The Role
The Director, Data Driven Sales & Customer Engagement is a strategic leadership role in Product Management responsible for transforming our approach to Data Driven Sales from data & analytics into actionable insights that accelerate revenue growth for SME, our customers and Mastercard. This role sits at the intersection of sales, analytics, and strategy, driving a culture of data driven decision making across the SME business. The role will report to the VP, Product Management, Partnerships and Customer Success, SME Europe.
The successful candidate will lead the partnership with Mastercard's Services organization while working closely with Data Science and Sales to develop a joint Go-To-Market (GTM) for advanced analytics, sales intelligence, and performance optimization initiatives to enhance customer acquisition, retention, and lifetime value, while enabling sales teams with predictive insights and scalable data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Strategy & Leadership• Define and execute the data driven sales strategy with a clear Go-To-Market and execution plan to support SME sales growth.• Drive adoption of data insights within Sales teams and leadership including organization and execution of trainings, workshops, and best practices sharing• Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable business insights.
2. Data Driven Sales Transformation & Performance reporting • Partner with Data Science to implement & evolve AI driven and automated portfolio analytics with quantifiable value and clear linkage to Mastercard Products & Services. • Embed data driven methodologies into the SME sales lifecycle (lead generation, qualification, pipeline management, forecasting, and retention).• Deliver executive level management reports, dashboards and insights that inform strategic decisions and opportunities (internal & external).
3. Customer Success & Portfolio Optimization• Identify growth opportunities at SME Europe portfolio, market and customer level.• Prepare and lead Customer Conversations in partnership with Sales Teams.• Partner with sales leadership to refine go to market strategies.
4. Cross Functional Collaboration• Partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Services, and Product teams to align strategy.• Partner with Data Science to deliver on automation and democratization of data driven sales with clear business objectives and digital transformation agenda.
About You
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Data Science, Analytics, Economics, or related field.• Experience in data and data-led sales• Significant experience working within SME or mid market business segments.• Proven track record of Go-To-Market definition & execution with measurable results.• Experience with Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Programming and knowledge of advanced analytics techniques (machine learning, predictive modelling) is a plus however not a must.
