More about our mission and what we offer.
Job DescriptionWe’re looking for a Spend Settlement Operations Senior Specialist to join our Global Product Operations teams in Tallinn.
This role is a unique opportunity to impact our mission by building the automated and resilient infrastructure that powers our card payments. You’ll ensure our settlement processes are accurate and reliable so that customers can use their cards seamlessly across the world, all while helping us drive down costs to save millions more people money.
Here’s how you’ll be contributing:
- Stewarding Complex Payment Flows: You’ll take ownership of end-to-end settlement and billing processes, ensuring every transaction is handled with total accuracy even as our card volumes scale globally.
- Product & Engineering Partnership: You’ll act as the subject matter expert for our Product squads, helping to design, test, and launch automated features and new regional card products from the ground up.
- Driving Systemic Improvements: You’ll identify gaps in our current workflows and lead initiatives to move the team away from manual tasks toward scalable, tech-driven solutions.
- Incident Response & Resolution: You’ll be a go-to person for troubleshooting complex settlement issues, partnering with technical teams to identify root causes and implement permanent structural fixes.
- Maintaining Operational Excellence: You’ll ensure that daily responsibilities and scheme payments are handled with high precision, helping the team consistently meet our global performance and reliability standards.
- Supporting Team Development: You’ll share your expertise in data evaluation and project management to help coach other specialists, elevating the team’s collective impact and technical skills.
This role will give you the opportunity to:
- Make an Impact: You’ll build the automated, resilient systems that allow our card products to scale globally. By identifying and removing manual friction in settlement and billing, you’ll directly lower costs and increase reliability, driving us closer to Mission Zero.
- Grow with the Mission: You’ll dive into complex financial logic where no two days are the same. You’ll have the freedom to question the "status quo" and the autonomy to build better processes from scratch, navigating a steep learning curve in a high-stakes, fast-moving environment.
- Bridge the Gap: You’ll be the translator between finance and technology. By sharing your insights on how money moves with our product managers and developers, you’ll help design features that are not only innovative but also operationally robust and accurate.
- Collaborate Globally: You’ll partner with stakeholders and payment networks all over the world to make our customers' lives better. With over 120 nationalities at Wise, you’ll work in a truly borderless team where diverse perspectives are valued and we simply "get it done."
- You’re based in Estonia and have the right to work here (please note that we don’t offer relocation or visa support for this role).
- You’re experienced in working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, whilst remaining punctual, accurate and correct in your tasks. You are used to working with complex data flows on a daily basis.
- You’re a natural project driver who can coordinate cross-functional stakeholders (such as engineering and product teams) and guide other specialists, effectively assigning tasks and steering initiatives that can span from a few months to over a year.
- You don't wait for a playbook. You’re committed to independently identifying systemic issues and digging deep into the data to find the information you need to get the job done.
- You’re a clear and honest communicator who can articulate your needs to various teams, ask the right questions, and move projects forward without needing constant oversight.
- You thrive in a dynamic setting where change is constant. You’re flexible with your time when working across different time zones and can pivot your priorities based on data and customer needs.
- You take pride in the accuracy and punctuality of your work, treating your area of responsibility with a strong sense of ownership and a solution-driven mindset.
Some extra skills that would be awesome:
- You’ve a strong academic background in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or Math that gives you a head start in understanding the financial logic of the global money movement.
- You’re a natural orientation toward root-cause analysis—you prefer finding permanent structural fixes over temporary "patches."
- You’re able to visualize how a small change in one part of the process ripples through the entire settlement and billing ecosystem.
- You know your way around SQL or other data tools to help you investigate issues independently.
Sounds like the next step for you? Apply latest by 1st of April EOD by submitting your CV in English and answering application questions.
