Job Description
We’re looking for a Regulatory Compliance Manager to join our growing team in Tallinn, Estonia. In this role you will act as a versatile, high-impact compliance officer capable of navigating complex regulatory landscapes and safeguarding our Belgian license (Wise Europe SA).
As a key pillar of our Second Line of Defense (2LOD), you will maintain a birds-eye view of our compliance framework, step in to lead diverse initiatives, and ensure seamless continuity across the function.
What you'll be doing:
- Regulatory Horizon Scanning: Support with implementation of existing and upcoming regulatory requirements (e.g. PSD3/PSR), assessing their impact on Wise and advising our first line teams
- Product & Cross-Functional Advisory: Partner independently with 1LOD Product, Legal, and Product Compliance teams to ensure new products, features, and market expansions are compliant by design.
- Policy Architecture: Draft, update, and roll out robust Wise Europe regulatory compliance policies, procedures, and standards
- Provide training to Wise teams to raise awareness on applicable compliance obligations
- Regulator Engagement & Reporting: Ensure that within the scope of your tasks we retain a transparent and collaborative relationship with our regulators and comply with our notification obligations (e.g. major incident reportability assessment, new product notifications)
- Breach Oversight & Remediation: Proactively identify potential compliance gaps, propose pragmatic redress, and collaborate with relevant teams to ensure that remediation actions are sustainably implemented.
- Culture & Training: Mentor internal teams and design/deliver engaging training programs to raise regulatory compliance awareness across Wise
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Drive Dynamic Impact: Experience total variety in your day-to-day, developing a deep, end-to-end understanding of Wise's global product ecosystem.
- Exercise True Autonomy: Enjoy the empowerment to own your projects from Day 1 within a highly collaborative and non-bureaucratic 2LOD environment.
- Act as a Trusted Advisor: Directly influence operational leaders and help scale innovation in a compliant way.
Qualifications
What you'll bring
- Solid 2LOD Experience: Proven track record working within a second-line compliance function at an authorized payment institution, e-money institution, or progressive financial institution.
- Regulatory Breadth: A strong grasp of the payments industry regulatory ecosystem, with the ability to quickly master and interpret Belgian and European prudential laws.
- Adaptable Generalist Mindset: Thrives in ambiguity, possesses the intellectual curiosity to jump across different compliance domains, and comfortably acts as a cross-functional backup.
- Strategic Communication: Exceptional ability to distill complex legal requirements into persuasive, clear, and practical arguments for product and engineering teams.
- Mission Alignment: You’ve thought deeply about the intersection of strict regulatory compliance and the Wise mission of fast, low-cost borderless money
