Position Summary
The Payer Relations Account Executive is responsible for driving new business growth and expanding CVS Pharmacy’s position within payer networks. This role develops and advances relationships with pharmacy benefit managers, health plans, discount program providers, and state Medicaid organizations to secure new agreements and strengthen strategic partnerships. Working closely with internal partners, the Account Executive builds compelling business cases, develops growth opportunities, and supports business expansion initiatives that deliver measurable value.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Identify, qualify, and advance new business opportunities with pharmacy benefit managers, health plans, discount providers, and state Medicaid programs.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of opportunities, including forecasting potential business impact and tracking progress toward goals.
- Develop and present business cases and proposals that align service, quality, network design, and volume commitments with customer needs.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to evaluate market opportunities, assess competitive positioning, and support contract negotiations.
- Facilitate smooth transitions of newly executed agreements to ongoing account management teams and support performance reviews during the initial contract lifecycle.
Travel: Up to 20% travel required.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in sales, business development, account management, healthcare contracting, or a related field.
- Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing new business agreements with measurable results.
- Experience developing data-driven business cases and presenting recommendations to stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence decision-making with senior external partners.
- Strong business judgment with the ability to work independently and navigate complex commercial discussions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in pharmacy benefit management, retail pharmacy, managed care, or healthcare services.
- Knowledge of pharmacy network structures, payer relationships, and reimbursement models.
- Experience working with pharmacy benefit managers, regional health plans, or Medicaid organizations.

Education
- Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Master's degree (MBA, MHA, or related field) preferred.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$82,940.00 - $182,549.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
