Job Summary

Ready to help shape the future of Southwest’s global connectivity? As a Partnership Management Consultant, you will lead and support strategic airline partnerships that expand Southwest’s network, enhance the Customer experience, and drive business growth. You will collaborate across the organization to support the implementation and execution of partnership initiatives, provide recommendations for new carrier agreements, and help ensure the successful delivery of ongoing partnerships. In this role, you will contribute to the continued growth of Southwest’s airline partner portfolio, support the introduction of new collaboration opportunities, and help unlock new revenue streams and international travel options for Customers. Your work will play a key role in advancing Southwest’s transformation and expanding the reach of our network.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support Southwest’s airline partnerships strategy by ensuring that the required technology and operational requirements are in place for a successful launch of an agreement with another airline

  • Build relationships across Southwest’s Commercial, Operations and Technology Teams to ensure ease of execution of agreements and manage ongoing agreements

  • Partner with Department SMEs to report out to senior leadership on progress being made with internal development of work and updates on negotiations and conversations with partner carriers

  • Assist in setting and aligning Southwest’s direction and goals with partner carriers and provides internal guidance and input to achieve successful contract negotiations

  • Negotiate agreements with other airlines that align to Southwest’s Commercial goals

  • Develop and deliver executive-ready presentations to communicate insights from analyses to Executive Leadership

  • Analyze the performance of airline partnership contracts and updates Southwest’s Leadership and Southwest Airlines Pilots Association on a monthly basis

  • Represent Southwest in meetings at industry conventions and negotiates on behalf of Southwest with other airlines

  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Airline Partnerships, Alliances and the ever changing competitive dynamic of the airline industry with a particular focus on alliances and partnership structures

  • Skilled in influencing and negotiations

  • Skilled in presentation at all levels

  • Ability to communicate analytic results to senior executives

  • Ability to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously mixing long term projects with the urgency of immediate demands on the operations

  • Ability to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, build strong and sustainable relationships and interact within all levels of the organization

  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

Education

  • Required: High School Diploma or GED

Experience

  • Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:

    • Managing business partnerships

    • Airline Industry

  • Preferred: Experience with airline partnerships, including interline and/or codeshare agreements

  • Preferred: Experience in contract negotiations, partner relationship management, and cross-functional stakeholder collaboration

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

  • Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Other Qualifications

  • Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

  • Ability to travel and work extended hours as needed

Pay & Benefits

Competitive market salary from  $108,700 - $120,800 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
