The role

The Partner will be a senior leader within Flint’s Asia-Pacific business and Financial Services practice. They will help shape and grow Flint’s financial services offer in the region, originate and develop major client relationships, and provide high-level strategic advice to financial institutions and investors navigating political, policy and regulatory change.

The successful candidate will combine deep knowledge of the financial services sector and its policy and regulatory environment with strong commercial instincts, an established senior network and a track record of building trusted advisory relationships.

The candidate will be expected to operate comfortably with Boards, senior executives, policymakers and regulators, helping clients understand how changes in government policy, regulation, politics and geopolitics affect their businesses and advising them on strategies to manage risk, shape outcomes and pursue commercial opportunities.

As a Flint Partner, you will also have a broader leadership role across the firm: contributing to Flint’s strategy, building our reputation and presence in Asia-Pacific, developing our people, and collaborating with colleagues across practices and geographies to grow the business.

Key responsibilities


Build and lead Flint’s Financial Services business in Asia-Pacific

  • Provide strategic leadership for the continued growth of Flint’s Financial Services practice in Asia-Pacific, working closely with the regional leadership and Financial Services colleagues globally.
  • Develop a clear view of the most important commercial, policy and regulatory opportunities for Flint across the financial services sector and translate these into areas of differentiated client proposition and growth.
  • Build Flint’s position as a leading adviser to financial institutions and investors on the interaction between commercial strategy, public policy, regulation, politics and geopolitics.
  • Help shape Flint’s wider Asia-Pacific strategy and contribute actively to the leadership and growth of the firm.
  • Drive collaboration across Flint’s Hong Kong, Singapore and international offices, ensuring clients benefit from the full breadth of Flint’s expertise.

Originate and grow client relationships

  • Lead significant new business development and expand Flint’s relationships with existing clients.
  • Build trusted senior relationships across financial services, identifying emerging needs and shaping compelling advisory propositions.
  • Lead major pitches and convert opportunities into sustainable, profitable client relationships.
  • Drive cross-practice and cross-geography opportunities, leveraging Flint’s wider expertise and taking ownership of key account performance and profitability.

Provide outstanding strategic advice

  • Act as lead adviser to major Financial Services clients, providing authoritative judgement on political, regulatory and policy developments and their commercial implications.
  • Help clients anticipate changes in the external environment, understand how decisions are likely to be made and identify practical strategies to manage risks and pursue opportunities.
  • Advise clients on engagement with governments, regulators and other key stakeholders, including the development of compelling policy positions and engagement strategies.
  • Bring together political, regulatory, sectoral and commercial analysis to provide clear recommendations to senior decision-makers.
  • Ensure consistently high standards of client service and analytical rigour across Financial Services accounts.
  • Draw effectively on Flint’s Partners, Specialist Partners, Senior Advisers and wider team to deploy the right expertise against each client challenge.

The portfolio will span a range of financial services issues and institutions, including banking and capital markets, asset and wealth management, insurance, payments and fintech, digital assets and the growing intersection between financial regulation, technology, geopolitics and sustainability.

Build Flint’s profile and external network

  • Be a senior external ambassador for Flint in Hong Kong and across Asia-Pacific.
  • Build and maintain high-level networks across financial institutions, government, regulators, industry bodies and the wider policy and business community.
  • Develop Flint’s profile through high-quality thought leadership, events, speaking engagements and participation in relevant industry forums.
  • Identify emerging issues where Flint can bring distinctive insight to clients and the wider market.
  • Strengthen Flint’s connectivity between Asia-Pacific and its international network, helping clients address increasingly cross-border policy and regulatory challenges.

Lead and develop our people

  • Provide visible leadership to Flint’s growing Asia-Pacific Financial Services team, fostering an ambitious, collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Develop and empower colleagues through clear strategic direction, mentoring and ownership.
  • Maintain high standards of client work while building advisory, analytical, commercial and leadership capabilities.
  • Support recruitment and regional growth, role-modelling collaboration across teams, practices and offices.

About you

We are looking for an outstanding senior leader with substantial experience at the intersection of financial services, policy, regulation and business who can bring:

  • Deep financial services expertise. A sophisticated understanding of the financial services industry and the policy and regulatory issues affecting it in Hong Kong and across Asia-Pacific. 
  • Senior-level experience. Significant experience gained in financial services, government, a regulatory body, consultancy, public policy or another relevant environment, with the credibility to advise senior executives and Boards.
  • Strong regional insight. Deep understanding of the financial services, policy and regulatory environment in Hong Kong, combined with substantial experience and networks across major Asia-Pacific financial centres.
  • An established network. Strong senior relationships across the financial services ecosystem, potentially spanning industry, government, regulators, policymakers and other relevant stakeholders.
  • A commercial track record. Demonstrable ability to originate opportunities, win new business, build senior client relationships and grow accounts or areas of a business.
  • Excellent strategic judgement. The ability to interpret complex political and regulatory developments, identify what matters commercially and provide clear, actionable advice. The ability to develop distinctive points of view on emerging regulatory, geopolitical and market issues that create new conversations with clients.
  • Outstanding communication skills. The confidence and authority to engage senior clients and stakeholders, combined with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively.
  • Leadership capability. A track record of building, leading and developing high-performing teams and creating an environment in which talented people can thrive.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset. The ambition and initiative to build a business, spot new opportunities and help shape the development of a growing international firm.
  • A collaborative approach. A strong instinct to work across disciplines and geographies and to bring together different perspectives and expertise to deliver the best outcomes for clients.

Detailed knowledge of every financial services sub-sector is not required. More important is the combination of sector credibility, policy and regulatory judgement, commercial acumen and the ability to build senior relationships and a successful advisory business.
