The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company's regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.
Your Responsibilities
As a Factory Part Time Student - Manufacturing Engineering at John Deere Harvester Works located in East Moline, IL you will support manufacturing planning and process control activities for Harvester works production departments and fab assembly lines. This role will include a wide variety of tasks in support of our manufacturing objectives, and leverage your previous job/internships/experiences building upon the skills obtained within your accredited degree program. In addition, you will:
- Investigate product and process related issues and recommend changes based on observations and salary/wage interactions
- Participate in the implementation for the resulting aforementioned activities
- Provide special engineering project support at the direction of the factory engineering team
- Provide analysis to support timely and accurate solutions to line side issues
- Perform audits or reviews, including inputting and maintaining information in factory databases and systems
- Assist in investigations and corrective actions and leverage innovative ideas to best address long standing manufacturing issues
This position is not available to students on immigration visas
What Skills You Need
- Ideally you will be pursuing a degree in an engineering discipline; others may apply
- Must be registered as a full-time student at a U.S. local accredited college/university
- Graduation date of May 2026 or later
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above
- Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly
- Available to work during the summer semester 35-40 hours/weekly
- Must be able to commute to the work location in East Moline, Illinois on a daily basis year-round
- Coursework covering engineering or science related topics
- Familiarity with information gathering and analysis techniques
- Strong communication skills
What Makes You Stand Out
- Demonstrable mechanical aptitude or familiarity and ability work within a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with drawing and schematic interpretation, product models and /or geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Experience with software programming languages and/or ML familiarity
- Experience in one or more related engineering areas: electrical, software programming, troubleshooting, design, and manufacturing
- Manufacturing Factory hands on experience
- SAP experience
- Knowledge and experience with agricultural equipment or other off highway machinery
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Strong communication skills with experience solving technical problems
