Summary:
The NorCal Design Center is searching for a talented Page Designer to join our dynamic team. We design 12 daily newspapers and four weekly publications, delivering engaging and visually appealing content to our readers. As a Page Designer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the look and feel of our newspapers, with a particular focus on sports pages. This position requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

What You Will Do:

Design Pages: Create visually compelling pages for MediaNews Group newspapers using InDesign, with a special emphasis on sports content.

Collaborate with Editors: Work closely with editors at various NorCal publications to ensure content is presented clearly and effectively.

Proofread: Review pages for spelling, grammar, and other errors to ensure high-quality output.

Layout and Composition: Implement strong layout and composition techniques to enhance the reader's experience, especially in sports sections.

Enhance Visual Storytelling: Utilize graphics, photos, and other design elements to improve storytelling on sports pages.

Adapt and Innovate: Stay updated with design trends and bring innovative ideas to the table.

Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the design team.
What You Will Bring:

Design Skills: Proficiency in InDesign is preferred, but not required—we're willing to train the right candidate.

The hourly wage is $16.50. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition program, and 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).

The Chico Enterprise-Record is a daily newspaper serving Chico, California, and the surrounding Butte County area. It is a part of the larger Northern California Community Newspapers group, including close sister papers Oroville Mercury-Register, Paradise Post and Red Bluff Daily News. Also known as the E-R, the newspaper was first published in Bidwell Bar, California as the Butte Record in 1853 and is now part of the MediaNews Group corporation, who took control of the paper from Donrey in 1999.

The majority of our roles are 100% remote excluding Production & Circulation although some roles require customer visits or occasional in office work. We do not have any intention of returning to an in office environment/culture.
