Summary:
The NorCal Design Center is searching for a talented Page Designer to join our dynamic team. We design 12 daily newspapers and four weekly publications, delivering engaging and visually appealing content to our readers. As a Page Designer, you will play a crucial role in shaping the look and feel of our newspapers, with a particular focus on sports pages. This position requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

What you will do:

Design Pages: Create visually compelling pages for MediaNews Group newspapers using InDesign, with a special emphasis on sports content

Collaborate with Editors: Work closely with editors at various NorCal publications to ensure content is presented clearly and effectively

Proofread: Review pages for spelling, grammar, and other errors to ensure high-quality output

Layout and Composition: Implement strong layout and composition techniques to enhance the reader's experience, especially in sports sections

Enhance Visual Storytelling: Utilize graphics, photos, and other design elements to improve storytelling on sports pages

Adapt and Innovate: Stay updated with design trends and bring innovative ideas to the table

Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the design team
What you will bring:

Design Skills: Proficiency in InDesign is preferred, but not required—we're willing to train the right candidate

Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail to ensure error-free and polished designs

Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Passion for Sports: A strong interest in sports to effectively design engaging sports pages
Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly wage is $16.50. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition program, and 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
