The Palletizer Operator is primarily responsible for operation of the palletizer(s), wrapper and loading trucks. The main goal will be to palletize all feed ordered for the warehouse. In doing so, he/she must be able to successfully run the palletizer and its supporting systems; you must also be able to correctly complete all shipping paperwork; make sure all feed is in the right bag, labeled correctly and with the correct pallet label; regularly maintain/clean the palletizer and support systems; familiarize self with products and their required specifications; and anything else supervisor requires. The qualified candidate will have the ability to work 40+ hours per week and palletize 4,500 bags in an 8-hour shift on any packing line. He/she can run either line at any given moment. You must be able to repeatedly lift 50 lbs.; and be mechanically inclined. The candidate must be able to multi-task; work as a team player; and work in a fast-paced environment with very high responsibilities.

Pay: $23.04

Essential Functions:

• Works safely and follows all safety procedures and safety requirements.

• Operates equipment and supporting systems, includes selects correct palletizing program for the intended feed, loading pallet magazines, loading slip sheet dispenser and loading wrapper.

• Performs minor troubleshooting on equipment and supporting systems.

• Operates forklift in a safely manner and follows all protocols related to forklift safety.

• Operates docks as intended and follows all protocols related to dock safety.

• Inspect trailer before loading for condition and cleanliness. Reports disrepair immediately so that trailer is put out of service.

• Ensure all pallets have a slip sheet, are shrink wrapped and labeled properly. Ensures correct bag and label was used.

• Scan all pallets correctly and be able to fix mistakes

• Provide accurate bag counts to packer operator.

• Ship confirms correct ST/OT and for the right quantity. Verifies quantity available via supply and demand.

• Completes palletizer log thoroughly and accurately. Saves log after every entry.

• Executes changeover accurately. Clears system thoroughly of previous run so there are no comingled pallets.

• Loads off the floor regularly. Loads oldest product first.

• Cleans palletizer area thoroughly for each line used during the shift.

• Cleans the warehouse by sweeping, picking up debris and cobwebbing.

• Supplies the packer with empty bags in a timely manner.

• Executes bin checks per procedures.

• Dump trash containers at the end of the shift.

• Unloads miscellaneous trucks when needed

• Completes additional housekeeping assignments.

• Must be willing to work as needed, in other areas where you’ve been cross trained

• Able to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions in English

• Attention to detail – required.

• Basic computer and math skills - required.

• Sense of urgency – required.

• Completes miscellaneous assignments from management.

Decision-making: The work instructions are very specific should be able to make adjustments and changes as deemed necessary by the supervisor

Equipment Used: Forklift, scissor lift, scanner, computer

Physical Demands:

• Visual acuity – required.

• Not afraid of working heights greater than 5 feet – required.

• Position requires constant movement; this is not a stationary position

• Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust to focus

• Required to walk, stand, reach, lift, climb or balance and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and use both hands and fingers, to handle, or feel, repeatedly throughout the shift

• Able to work in a dusty environment and in a cold/hot environment where temperatures can vary

• Able to repeatedly lift at least 50 pounds using safe lifting practices throughout shift

• Housekeeping such as sweeping, scraping, shoveling, scrubbing in assigned areas

• Each day may require the completion of different duties or priorities with different skill sets or requirements

• Available to work Overtime, Weekends including Saturday and Sunday based on production needs

• Standing - Frequently

• Pushing/Pulling - Occasionally

• Lift Capacity: up to 50 lbs.- Occasionally

• Noise typical of a production environment  

• Entire shift/Hearing Protection Required

Time Demands:

• On occasion, business demands may require some employees to work overtime
