About the role:
You'll lead and support change initiatives across a complex, multi-country organisation, helping leaders plan transitions, build stakeholder commitment, and turn new ways of working into lasting habits. Alongside that, you'll contribute to the broader OD agenda: performance frameworks, leadership development, and capability building. But change management is the heartbeat of this position.
If you're a change specialist who wants their work to connect to something that genuinely matter, and who thrives in environments that are complex, cross-cultural, and never static, this is that role
Tasks
* Lead change management on strategic initiatives across Light for the World's global and regional operations; from scoping and stakeholder mapping through to adoption and embedding
* Develop change strategies, communication plans, and engagement approaches tailored to diverse country contexts and organisational cultures.
* Coach and support senior leaders and managers in their role as change sponsors and champions.
* Identify resistance early, address it practically, and keep momentum where it matters.
* Build Light for the World's internal change capability over time; so the organisation gets better at change, not just managed through it
* Own the global performance management framework, form goal-setting, feedback cycles, annual reviews, and performance improvement, keeping it fit for purpose as the organisation evolves
* Build and maintain competency frameworks for leadership and functional roles that reflect what excellent looks like at Light for the World specifically
* Design and coordinate leadership development programmes and learning initiatives across regions
* Support succession planning and talent pipelines so development connects to real organisational needs
* Use people data to track trends, measure what's working, and give leaders an evidence base for decisions
* Adapt global frameworks for regional realities, what works in Vienna rarely lands the same way in Kampala or Addis Ababa
Requirements
* 5–7 years in change management, OD, or a closely related P&C discipline, with change management as a clear thread, not a side activity
* Proven experience leading organisational change end-to-end: not just communication plans, but real stakeholder work, resistance management, and adoption
* Strong facilitation and influencing skills across multicultural and multi-country environments
* The ability to work without a perfect playbook, you'll often be navigating ambiguity and building the approach as you go
* Fluency in English
* Formal change methodology (Prosci, ADKAR, Kotter, or similar), we care more about judgement than certification
* Experience in international NGOs, development organisations, or other mission-driven, matrix environments
* Familiarity with HRIS, LMS, or performance management platforms
Benefits
* You join a highly motivated team, appreciating your experience and eager to jointly shape Light for the World’s monitoring and steering mechanisms
* We are offering an outstanding opportunity to bring about change through an international development organization with strong expertise and a growing profile
* We are committed to giving our colleagues space to explore new directions, test new ideas and to excel as individuals through and with their team We emphasize a good work-life-balance, have flexible working hours and Home-Office opportunity. We are a professional team that strives towards continuous development
* We believe in participatory leadership and expect you to contribute your expertise and ideas
* We believe that learning from mistakes is an important way of developing and put emphasis on our culture of learning
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and place great value on diversity and inclusion within our organization. We welcome all applications, regardless of gender, nationality, religion, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity. We also particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities!
