Your role in our success:
The Operations Technical Instructor II will design, coordinate, deliver, and evaluate training programs for operations. This role will provide technical and operator qualification training to operations team members in areas which may include line locating, leak investigation, leak survey and detection, pressure testing,
cathodic protection and pipeline corrosion, overpressure protection and the operation of regulating equipment.
What you'll be working on:
- Identify training needs, research and create new training materials related to operations, compliance, safety, and quality.
- Conduct instructor-led operations, safety-related training, and operator qualification training and evaluations per Federal requirements (OSHA, DOT, PHMSA, etc.) for employees and contractors.
- Develop and revise training materials to ensure materials are current and follow company policies and procedures and meet regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate training records in coordination with the Training Coordinators.
- Ensures training and baseline qualification completions are conducted for assigned divisions.
- Monitors and tracks operator qualification expirations to ensure qualifications are current.
- Evaluate student performance and evaluate the effectiveness of the training.
- Provides technical assistance to the operating divisions and appropriate outside agencies.
- Evaluates and tests tools and provides recommendations for equipment and safety gear
- May provide guidance to instructional staff on training
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Who you are:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred
7+ years of experience in the gas industry with a strong background in operations required; 10 years of experience preferred
- 5+ years of experience in coaching, training, or education preferred.
- Standard driver’s license
- Knowledge of gas operations, including construction, maintenance, distribution, and transmission systems.
- Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques used for adult education.
- Experience in training, mentoring, or instructing, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate organizational skills and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel (~30%). This role will be based in Dover, DE but will travel throughout our service territories.
