Transport Specialist

Job Description

In this role, you will have the opportunity to

Oversee the transport infrastructure to ensure that all Philips products reach each customer within the contractual agreed lead times, at the most cost-effective service, un-damaged and at the correct destination. The Transport specialist draws up and maintains the transportation plan for finished products within a medium-term time frame, calculates transport capacity, and obtains and analyzes data from the transport system.

You are responsible for (but not limited to):

  • Management of shipment visibility and in-transit activities, destination customs arrival (completeness of documentation and pieces/ship units), as well as cross-dock and multi leg coordination
  • Execution and re-planning in the event of exceptions/disruptions in planned shipments
  • Managing order consolidation opportunities, emergency/expedited orders, and return flows
  • Interfacing with Service Providers (carriers, Freight Forwarders, Customs Brokers),
  • Identifying optimal route opportunities (e.g. x-dock assigned location, port of entry), as well as evaluating alternatives and selecting optimum routing and carrier based on pre-planned forecast data
  • Overseeing booking/reservation of LSP capacity (provisionally or confirmed) based on forecast/pre-planning data
  • Tariff & rate management and transit time compliance management/KPI
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned



You are a part of

The Transport team, which is part of the Global Business Services (GBS) North American hub, in Nashville, TN. This team functions as the operational Center of Excellence (COE) group that handles transportation planning and execution.

To succeed in this role, you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain with a focus on Logistics/Transportation is preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Transport environment, with working knowledge operating as a shipper, carrier, Freight Forwarder, or supply chain transportation/logistics specialist
  • Experience working with a TMS (Transportation Management System) and SAP
  • Proven-track record of Customer Service and ability to problem solve
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, Fluency in English is required (bilingualism in Spanish, German, French, Japanese, and or Chinese languages are a plus)
