Sr. Associate UW Specialist

American National is seeking a SR. Associate UW Specialist. The senior associate underwriter specialist functions as the technical expert for Specialty Markets. Must demonstrate technical expertise and a keen knowledge of policy processes and systems. In order to serve at this level for the lines of business, he/she must serve as an expert with the policy administration systems and processes to independently service agent and policyholder needs and to provide technical support to the team. They must demonstrate technical expertise and potential leadership skills with the desire and ability to grow into a position where he/she will manage people.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Monitors service levels for new business, policy changes and renewals and remains in communication with the department manager regarding service levels.
• Serves as the point of contact for the manager and for the field regarding the management of service levels for the team or region.
• Responds to agents and internal clients when a high degree of technical and/or negotiation skills are required.
• Submits requests to the analyst team and/or Corporate Technology Services in order to implement system enhancements when efficiency improvements are identified.
• Develops and mentors associate underwriters to become more independent in their roles and serves as a backup manager for the department when manager is out of office.
• Performs quality control and/or quality assurance reviews, as determined by the manager, in order to ensure quality work by the associate underwriter team and coach team regarding areas of improvement identified in these QA reviews.
• Provides support to new team members following the completion of the initial training into the department.
• Works in tandem with the manager to assist in the professional and technical development of team members.
• Exhibits leadership traits such as motivational support and the empowerment of others to enhance the quality of work from the team, conveys confidence in their abilities, and recognizes individual successes.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate degree.
• Two to four years of experience.
• Equivalent experience considered in place of collegiate studies.
• Formalized leadership training and leadership experience preferred.

Salary for this position can range from $43,742for candidates who are minimally qualified through $65,613 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.
