ROLE OVERVIEW
The Benchling Solution Advisor is a senior subject matter expert responsible for building credibility and trust with the technical leaders in our largest customers by developing cross-functional strategies and solutions. The Solution Advisor uses Solution Assessments, roadmap engagements, and enterprise architectures to build an in-depth understanding of the customer’s use cases, R&D model and objectives. They create executive-level output that encompasses current state analysis and future state recommendations using Benchling processes and leading practices. This includes covering areas of improvement, innovation and laying a foundation to scale through enabling technology best practices. The Solution Advisor ensures that Benchling’s top customers get a solution that meets their needs precisely and also by ensuring that their stakeholders are aligned around the solution.
The Solution Advisor is responsible for complex scientific and technical issue identification, needs analysis, solution design, business case development, executive validation, and presentation. The Advisor’s responsibilities include business analysis and project management including client interaction through successful fact finding, coordination of internal Benchling resources, client validation, and final executive presentation.
Solution Advisors will have a strong executive presence and must have prior successful executive interaction. They are particularly adept at connecting scientific and technical challenges to leading practices solutions. They also have the capacity to bridge customer challenges to Benchling capabilities and identified value.
YOUR IMPACT
Solution Advisors operate independently with assigned customers, segments, or domains. They are driven by metrics to develop enterprise level Solution Assessments, roadmaps, and enterprise architectures in conjunction with Benchling executives and management, and to complete assessments that unlock significant enterprise customer expansion. While Benchling leadership sets their metrics, assigns their domain, and gives them coaching, they are expected to develop their own portfolio of work to achieve those metrics.
Solution Advisors are expected to influence Benchling’s largest customers and unlock expansion with those largest customers. Additionally, they are expected to enhance customer relationships by developing credibility for the company based on their strong technical and scientific subject matter expertise.
While assigned domains and metrics are clear, the Solution Advisor regularly needs to operate with some level of ambiguity in helping account executives, sales management, professional services, partners, product, and other cross functional stakeholders understand how to engage and participate in assessments. They also will be responsible for developing processes to create repeatability in execution. They’ll also need to handle ambiguity in taking asks from a customer and mapping them to our recommended solution. Often the use cases will be new, variable, and complex, and will require creating new solutions and new ways of working through a complete offering.
