HDR is looking for a Senior Geologist to join GeoEnvironmental Team in Charlotte, NC. This team works as an HDR cross-sector group to provide geologic and environmental services to a diverse client base including the industrial/commercial, mining, power, waste, federal, and water sectors. Typical projects include Phase I environmental site assessments, groundwater assessments and remediation, Brownfields assessments, hydrogeologic studies for mining and solid waste clients, NPDES permit compliance, periodic groundwater monitoring, geotechnical investigations, and bedrock characterization/fracture trace analysis. Projects are typically located within the Southeast U.S., but there could be opportunities to perform work in other parts of the country, as HDR encourages work across business lines and with other offices located throughout the U.S. This individual will be supported by a strong local and regional network of professional geologists and environmental professionals. On a day-to-day basis, the Senior Geologist will also be expected to:
- Follow industry and HDR standard practices to manage fieldwork, manage projects, and prepare deliverable documents
- Be viewed as a technical expert with recognized authority in an area of specialization that resolves problems of greater scope and complexity
- Perform geologic and hydrologic studies, including field work, and other hydrologic, geologic and geophysical tasks both locally and nationally
- Take responsibility for proposal and report writing, development of soil and groundwater sampling plans, data analysis, site remediation, project management as well as client management
- Plan and develop projects or design activities that have significant impact on major company programs as needed
- Plan, organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians
- Serve as a Project Manager on larger projects, though project management is not sole focus of position
- Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications
- BS degree in Geology, Earth Science, Hydrogeology or closely related field required
- Professional Geologist (PG) licensed in NC, SC, VA, or GA required
- Minimum of 11 years working as a geologist in the environmental field required
- Must be OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER trained (current)
- Experience supervising Phase I ESAs in remote locations required
- Experience managing compliance groundwater sampling using various sampling methods at industrial, power, and municipal facilities required
- Experience designing, testing, and implementing remedial measures at industrial/commercial, waste, and coal-ash facilities required
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs required
- Must be a self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
- Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
