Job Description

Job Overview:

We have an immediate opening for a Senior Geologist with our Solid Waste Consulting Services Division to perform a variety of work related to landfills and recycling facilities. The ideal candidate will provide Client Management Services to projects in all phases. The candidate will provide technical guidance and regulatory support for clients receiving questions and/or directives from regulatory agencies. Directs staff and independently evaluates, selects and uses standards, techniques, procedures and criteria for projects. Provides advanced training in geological and hydrogeological topics to staff. Conducts business development activities, project procurement, contract negotiation, and project business organization. Performs other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Manage mid-sized projects to Master Service agreements with national solid waste clients
  • Establish scope, designs, schedules and cost controls consistent with their discipline and compatible with client objectives.
  • Collect and interpret geologic and hydrogeologic data, develop project design, and perform detailed technical analysis of complex project issues.
  • Develop work with existing and new clients
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates
  • Review, modify, approve, and stamp drawings and reports.
  • Coordinate and oversee subcontractors.
  • Manage project budgets.
  • Ensure conformance to applicable technical codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Familiar with Waste Discharge Requirements and Solid Waste Facility Permits.
  • Communicate with Regulatory Agencies.
  • Preparing Landfill Closure and Expansion Plans, Joint Technical Documents, Construction Estimates, Permit Applications.


Basic Qualifications:

  • MS or higher in Geological Sciences with 15+ years of relative Solid Waste experience.
  • Professional License in Geology/Hydrogeology. California licensed preferred.
  • Can manage a team of geologists and scientists toward common goals and deadlines.
  • Has knowledge of Federal and State Regulations and permit applications, and has a good working relationship with governmental agencies.
  • Proficient in writing high-quality technical reports and proposals.
