Join our Independence Risk Management team and help protect EY from risks that arise from its professional services. The Independence team provides coordinated advice and assistance on independence, conflicts, regulatory and risk management issues, as well as supporting our people in managing the risks that arise in our daily working lives. You will work closely with all parts of the organization to identify, manage and monitor risk by providing coordinated advice and assistance on independence, compliance, and regulatory issues.

Your key responsibilities

You'll possess subject matter knowledge enabling you to develop and execute monitoring programs in order to assess compliance, track findings, provide action-based results to management, and assists in remediating issues with key stakeholders globally You'll provide research and analysis on targeted risk management areas of focus including administration of policies and processes; tracking exceptions to policies, determining required actions; and making recommendations based on firm guidance.

You will manage various daily, weekly and monthly processes that assist with identifying potential independence issues. You will be analyzing and documenting your conclusions on various independence cases and may be required to present / explain your findings to leadership and/or other members of the independence team.

  • Assist in the development of testing programs that are effective, measurable, and impactful.
  • Execute detailed operational monitoring programs to validate compliance with firm policy and procedures and to evaluate completeness, accuracy and appropriateness of the transaction
  • Facilitate and strongly drive the process to completion by following up on requests from risk management consultants and EY employees
  • Understand and apply key requirements of firm and regulators' independence rules and policies.
  • Work with EY employees on obtaining background materials required to initiate review of business relationships or other processes.
  • Act as a liaison between EY personnel, other members of the risk management team, and various functional areas within the firm in assessing compliance
  • Develop and manage reporting related to various monitoring reviews in order to provide dashboard reporting on compliance rates across a variety of measures
  • Build and leverage a network of contacts within risk management and across the firm
  • Challenge existing processes and approaches operational efficiency, effectiveness, internal controls, and/or customer service and offer innovative ideas for improvement

  • Ability to learn and understand the firm and regulators' independence rules and policies as well as familiarity with other risk management initiatives outside of area of expertise
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and activities in a timely manner and be responsible for specific outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong research skills and ability to apply sound business judgment to individual and team assignments
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to exhibit a positive attitude and approach, willingly accepts new challenges, flexible and accepting of change
  • Ability to keep confidential sensitive information
