Position Summary

Leads a team of Commodity Managers and Buyers through strategic vision and implementation, driving improvements in efficiency and cost across all Division spend. Manages the direction and daily activities of the Division's procurement of raw materials, parts, equipment, freight, and operating supplies required for production of the Division's products. Oversees and implements spend controls and visualizes plan versus actual results, forecasts, and other cost-related metrics. Responsible for embracing and driving lean enterprises systems throughout the procurement process.

Responsibilities

1)Sets and implements strategic action plans for the procurement team with consideration of company and division goals. 2)Creates and strengthens supplier contracts and agreements to meet and secure business needs.3)Establishes preferred supplier selection criteria based on supplier evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications, and compliance with governmental procurement regulations. Promotes and uses strategic suppliers. 4)Supports Commodity Managers in interviews, selections and negotiations with suppliers in response to material requirements/cost issues. 5)Develops and benchmarks best practices among the Divisions suppliers and maintain accurate measurements and records for evaluation of suppliers. 6)Develops supplier relationships to gain deep understanding of supply chain, identifying and mitigating supply chain risks through strategic action and development of supply base.7)Collaborates with Engineering and Marketing teams to build strong change point management processes, annual plans, and monthly forecasting models.8)Visualizes and reports metrics related to strategic plan implementation, supply chain status, forecasts, market data, and supplier performance.9)Leverages supply chain metrics to drive intentional action and continuous improvement in procurement team daily work as well as improvement in supplier performance, including compliance, delivery, quality, and cost.10)Partners with Engineering to determines the most cost efficient and reliable materials needed for the manufacturing process.11)Develops standard/automated re-order procedures. Will develop crisis management and supplier backup contingency programs. 12)Plans and direct the activities of the Division's purchases of raw materials, supplies, equipment or services. 13)Develops team members through career development planning and coaching.14)Ensures purchases and capital expenditures are consistent with Division strategies and within department budgets.15)Responsible for integrating the Division with electronic interfacing throughout the purchasing function.

Qualifications

- Minimum of 6-8 years purchasing/managerial experience. - 4-year college degree in business, engineering, or materials management required with certification in supply chain management preferred.- Experience creating and leading strategic initiatives related to procurement and supply chain initiatives. - Must possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities. - Must have functional understanding of cost accounting and adopt to practical application. - Must have advanced computer skills and be able to analyze data and understand electronic processing.- Demonstrated project management and leadership skills- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.- Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices.Desired experience:-Rubber Chemical industry and/or applications knowledge of rubber chemical compounds.-Lean supply chain management practices -APICS or other procurement certification.
