Changing Healthcare For Good
At Angle Health, we believe the healthcare system should be accessible, transparent, and easy to navigate. As a digital-first, data-driven health plan, we are replacing legacy systems with modern infrastructure to deliver our members the care they need when they need it. If you want to build the future of healthcare, we'd love for you to join us.

The Role

Our Network Development team is responsible for building and maintaining a provider network that will deliver high quality, high efficiency healthcare services for Angle’s members. This team identifies the providers needed for a strong, marketable network and then solidifies relationships with them. Angle’s provider network needs to cover the full spectrum of healthcare services covered by Angle’s plans, including hospitals inside and outside health systems, urgent care centers, ambulatory surgery centers, medical doctors, medical groups, dental services, vision services, ancillary services including lab, pharmacy, imaging, therapies, and telemedicine.

The Director for Network Development and Contracting is responsible for the entire network development cycle, including analyzing markets to understand which providers need to be included for both network adequacy and marketability; identifying and reaching out to potential provider partners; working through the negotiations to reach execution of final provider contracts with reasonable rates; and then overseeing the onboarding of providers and ongoing provider relations.

Angle’s provider networks need to serve the direct markets where Angle offers its plans, plus have nationwide reach to provide coverage for employers’ remote employees who live outside the plan area. The network development team requires strong strategic planning to set up cost effective networks for nationwide access to services.

Angle’s operations are located in Salt Lake City, but this position can be filled on a remote basis.

Core Responsibilities

  • Review and contribute to market evaluations to understand the provider resources and network needs and what is required for a geographically competitive, fully access compliant, strong provider network.
  • Initiate, develop and manage relationships with provider partners, including hospitals, health systems, medical groups, independent physicians, and other service providers
  • Develop, analyze, review, and present business terms for provider relationships that will drive quality care, enhance efficiencies and align interests, including financial terms, reimbursement rate structures, and other performance metrics
  • Prepare, analyze and project the financial impact of provider contracts and proposed alternatives; understand and communicate the deviations from expected and market rates; work with the actuarial staff to analyze impact of proposed terms on premium rates
  • Work through the contract negotiations with providers.
  • Identify network gaps and research and bring providers in network to resolve any gaps
  • As the company grows, and the Network Development team grows, serve as the director for the team providing leadership and developing associate resources
  • Effective communication with all departments, including clinical operations, claims, credentialing, marketing, sales, compliance, legal, and finance, to identify strategies that drive growth, improve member outcomes, deliver financial efficiencies, and strengthen provider relationships
  • Maintain the highest levels of quality and compliance in executing all duties, while setting and meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) goals
  • Streamline workflows and drive operational efficiencies
  • Provide feedback on system limitations or expansion needs to reduce errors and improve processes
  • Participate in product testing and communicate bugs, issues, and any other feedback to the appropriate product owners
  • Resolve highly complex provider service complaints; propose preventive processes to avoid future problems
  • Learn new skills across various operational functions, grow personally and professionally, and be a true pinch-hitter for the team—assisting and filling in wherever the need may be
