What is the Role?

At Amherst Studio Build, our strength is the efficiency with which we will deliver leading-edge residential modular products and support to those we serve. We are committed to set the golden standard for success in our industry. To help us continue our growth, we’re seeking an experienced director of factory development to join our highly skilled team. As an ideal candidate, you have proven factory development experience turning on a factory and ramping up quickly to achieve production targets. Your organizational, communication, and leadership skills are second to none and you enjoy developing solutions that push innovative boundaries. You’ll work closely with the Amherst executives to strategize and develop long-term plans that will establish new industry benchmarks in efficiency, productivity, and success. Your most important trait will be your relentless passion for taking offsite construction to the next level.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Develop the manufacturing, fabrication, and integration processes for modular housing manufacturing.

  • Implement new manufacturing capabilities and think creatively to resolve challenges that will be presented in startup operations

  • Optimize existing operations, approaches, and processes during integration projects and partnerships.

  • Develop, demonstrate, and drive to completion innovative production processes to support high-rate production targets and throughput.

  • Work with an extremely fast paced environment and adapt to evolving design and production challenges

  • Maintain a sense of ownership for all aspects of the modular engine including design, fabrication, and delivery schedule

  • Drive design and process changes that support program goals, through demonstration of feasibility

  • Work closely with design/development managers and Studio Build factories (internal and external) to get products built and assembled.

  • Assist with design, analysis, and integration of Raptor subassemblies to resolve off-nominal non-conformance and develop sustainable repair procedures

  • Resolve recurring manufacturing discrepancies and interface with quality team to implement corrective actions

  • Interface with production technician, engineering team and leadership on a daily basis

What We Expect:

  • You are a “self-starter" - you can execute your goals with minimal direction

  • You are resourceful – you can operate in a startup environment, manage a variety of tasks, and take the initiative to get things done

  • Understanding of design to manufacturing development of modular manufacturing factories in multiple locations concurrently.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel required

What You Will Achieve:


After 3 months you will have...

  • Fully designed and developed the conceptual operations for 2 Amherst locations.

  • Established and begun tracking and reporting key KPIs to management team

  • Completed project management schedule, scope, budget, and resource plan

  • Developed staffing plan to help support the factory development team.

After 12 months you will have...

  • Successfully fitted out and established base line manufacturing capacity in 2 factories.

  • Achieved scope, schedule, financial targets of the projects

  • Successfully worked with the Amherst leadership team to develop a standardized product portfolio capable of being mass produced using our unique system of execution.

Requirements:

  • At least 8+ years of modular construction related experience

  • At least 5+ years of project management experience specifically in the development of modular factories producing SFR product.

  • A solid understanding of building SFR modular products

  • Proven track record turning on a factory and ramping production expeditiously

  • Proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Excellent coaching and mentorship skills

  • Be able to pass a drug screening

  • 2+ years of experience managing, leading and developing a bd/sales team and holding them accountable for results essential.
