POSITION SUMMARY:
The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Community Educator works independently but seeks appropriate direction as needed in facilitating program implementation, teacher trainings and program evaluation to promote bicycle and pedestrian safety to students in the Safe Routes to School grant's 15-county service area. Represents JHACH and the program at community meeting and participates in injury prevention community-based functions focused on bicycle and pedestrian safety.
LOCATION: St. Petersburg, FL
HOURS: Full-time, Days. Some weekend work may be required to help support and manage community health events and programs. This schedule will vary based on community needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree
- 1 year of teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level
- Ability to travel to various work locations is required
- Ability to complete trainings and become certified (or approved) as an instructor for Florida Traffic & Bicycle Safety Education Program and become certified as a League Cycling Instructor (LCI)
- Must demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in full Microsoft Office suite
