Description

We are looking for a Category Director in our Strategic Sourcing and Procurement (SS&P) group to be responsible for approximately $600MM in maintenance, repair, and operating supplies (MRO) category spend. Primary categories in-scope include: general mill supplies, electrical supplies, bearings & power transmission, fluid power, pipes valves & fittings, pumps, etc. This individual will lead the MRO category leader team, with direct supervisory responsibility of four team members, while also being responsible for building and managing key supplier and customer relationships. The Category Director should be capable of influencing without decision rights and must be comfortable working in a cross-functional environment. This role is based in Atlanta GP Center, an approved Koch office, or from a remote approved home office.
What You Will Do In Your Role

Lead, attract, retain, and develop talent - coach, train, and develop team members in their sourcing initiatives and application of Market Based Management (MBM®)

Create category strategies - build, maintain, and communicate vision and strategy to maximize value; own and track category spend, suppliers, savings, and category strategy adherence; look to leverage synergies with other category teams (e.g., process equipment) and capabilities (e.g., inventory mgmt.)

Apply category management knowledge processes - leveraging GP's source-to-contract process, including should-cost analysis and fact-based negotiations

Frame opportunities using economic thinking - identify and size new Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) opportunities, rate and non-rate initiatives, focused on improving long-term plant reliability and reduction of maintenance cost by leveraging supplier capabilities; prioritize and execute initiatives, aligned with cross-functional teams

Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders - foster partnerships with internal (e.g. manufacturing leaders, business leaders) and external parties (strategic supplier relationship management); look to build and/or leverage synergies at Koch level where possible

Maintain expert market knowledge - assemble expert understanding of respective supply markets, competitors, and product innovations; monitor competitive landscape to identify threats/opportunities; leverage insights to drive strategy

Drive transformation & change management - Facilitate implementation of change initiatives within category to improve business performance

The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years of professional experience
  • Willing and able to travel as required (up to 10%)


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain or Engineering
  • MBA or master's degree in engineering or supply chain
  • Experience in strategic sourcing, P&L ownership, consulting, finance, supply chain/logistics management, or engineering
  • Experience leading cross functional teams in a matrixed environment
  • Experience in Consumer Products and/or Manufacturing industries
