The Business Line Risk Manager (BLRM) functions as a risk liaison team within the Technology organization. The BLRM team is responsible for supporting the consistent identification, execution, and remediation of risk management across the Technology organization. This role will part of part of Ally's Information Protection & Risk Management (IPRM) Information Security Program.

The BLRM serves as the trusted advisor, both to the business unit and to the Senior Director. This role will help ensure consistency across Technology as the team liaises between the business unit and Risk & Resiliency, communicating on upcoming initiatives and reporting on risks to Executive Leadership appropriate committees. In addition, this role will partner with Executive leaders across Technology and their teams to ensure the business line maintains adherence to Information Security and Information Technology Policies and Standards through continuously monitoring and reporting on risks and documented exceptions.

The Work Itself

  • Oversee the execution of Technology Business Line Risk Management practices in Technology to include transparent reporting of risks and remediation plans and overseeing the integration of risks within the enterprise operational risk framework
  • Support the execution of the Information Security and Technology standards across all applications, systems, processes, and controls within each Business Unit
  • Support the Technology Business Unit and Senior Director in seeking appropriate solutions to manage business objectives and costs while achieving risk management goals.
  • Provide input into the Ally Enterprise Information Security Program
  • Review, provide input, and asset impact into the Information Security Policy and Standards
  • Ensure clear lines of communication between Business Unit CIOs and IPRM stakeholders
  • Ensure reporting is established on the state and efficacy of key controls for the business unit projects and platforms
  • Develop and maintain partnerships across supported function, key leaders within IPRM and appropriate Risk and Audit teams
  • Coordination and collaboration on risk management topics with Compliance, Independent Risk Management, internal Audit, and other risk functions both internal and external to IT
  • Develop and own new processes, or recommend automation opportunities, to increase efficiency and effectiveness of risk management processes and/or reporting to both BL/IRM partners and product/IT management teams
  • Serve as individual contributor or small team leader

  • Improved consistency across the execution of risk management processes across Technology
  • Greater awareness of risk management and information security requirements
  • Improved compliance with standards and policies across Business Unit teams.



The Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Information Technology, or relevant field of study heavily preferred
  • CISSP or CISM desired
  • 5 years or more of progressive experience in an information security or related role
  • High level of interpersonal skills to interact with leaders at multiple levels and facilitate team interactions
  • Understanding of analyzing and responding to advanced threats, technology risk and the motivation/attack vectors of each threat
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate with business leaders, users, and tech-savvy stakeholders. Create reports and analyze reports for a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Ability to take ownership of an initiative/issue thru completion
  • Strong understanding of audit/risk management methodologies and regulatory requirements pertaining to information security, privacy, and data security
  • Ability to manage multiple complex priorities and competing agendas without express authority over delivery teams
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies and regulations across a large, complex business
  • Analytical aptitude with an emphasis on investigative, methodical, and critical questioning and logical thinking; a data-driven decision maker
  • Ability to coordinate across teams, create project and action plans, and determine required resources to get a job done
