Summary
The Group Leader is responsible for overseeing, directing, and supporting the day-to-day operations of team members within the warehouse.What You'll Do
- Support and monitor the department assigned. Utilizes Hoshin and FMDS to communicate the department’s expectations and results. Creates standardized work process for assigned department and ensures these processes are reviewed and up to date. Ensures department staff are properly trained and perform daily work to standard processes. Conducts problem solving activities within the department using PDCA format with team input.
- Monitor and review inventory levels to meet customer and company expectations (FIFO, FEFO, cycle counts etc.). Controls and monitors the purchasing of supplies and other expenditures within the department.
- Support initiatives for an effective safety program that meets OSHA and company expectations. Monitor department targets for safety performance including leading indicators (Hiyari Hatto, Behavioral Based Safety, etc.) and trailing indicators (incident rates). Conducts investigation, reporting and countermeasure of safety incidents and audits. Support activities of the facility’s safety committee.
- Ensures the department is compliant to company (ISO14001) and government environmental standards.
- Coordinate and monitor the productivity of department assigned. Monitor targets for productivity performance. Analyzes data to improve productivity and implement improvements. Ensures adequate tools and equipment are available to staff for a safe and productive operation. Ensures the preventive maintenance program is being followed within assigned department for building and production equipment in order to minimize downtime.
- Follows and monitors quality control measures in place to meet internal and external customer expectations. Monitors department targets for quality performance. Analyzes data to improve quality and implement improvements.
- Delegates tasks and accountabilities. Supports creation of training and development plans for staff to support succession planning and effective operation. Supports plans to improve and maintain high morale of staff. Coaches, counsels and disciplines subordinates as required. Approves time submissions and time off requests for subordinates.
- Ensures company policies (HR, Safety, Internal Controls, IT, Accounting, Security, etc.) and other directives are communicated, implemented and observed though out the organization.
- Ensures customer expectations are met. Responds promptly to internal and external customer issues and concerns with root cause and countermeasures within the specified timeframe.
- Ensures reports are submitted to Management within the specified time frame and with accuracy.
- Maintain ISO 14001 program for facility
- Creates work assignments based on business demands and complying with FIFO and parts on hold
What You Need
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 3 to 6 years experience leading an operations team
- Warehouse operations, forklift certification, Experience with supervising a staff of 5-10 people. Process improvement, creation of standardized work, and understanding of TPS and problem solving. Working knowledge of FMDS concepts, SSDP completion.
