Reporting directly to the Toronto Branch Manager or the site designate, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of all operating and maintenance staff to assure safe efficient production of the facility while maintaining zero harm in a fast-paced work environment. Data analysis, facilitation and knowledge transfer will be a significant component of the role. You must have the ability to:

● Rotate between shifts. 

● Prioritize and effectively respond to competing demands for resources. 

● Understand waste classifications and best methods of processing or disposal.

● Troubleshooting and demonstrated organizational skills. 

● Demonstrate the presence of a strong team player with the ability to work independently.

Note: This position is responsible for managing afternoon and night shift operations and will require flexible work hours to accommodate the 3:00pm–11:00pm and 11:00pm– 7:00am shifts. Pending shift performance normal working hours can be 11:00am to 7:00pm

Key Responsibilities: 

 ● Maintain the Branch Safety programs, documents and training programs: 

o Take ownership and constantly look for ways to improve Safety Performance. o Develop and perform job task assessments (JTO’s), Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA’s) and Safe Work Procedures (SWP’s). 

o Report all incidents, safety infractions, non-compliance issues and participate in the investigation and development of corrective actions. 

o Host Monthly Safety Meetings. 

● Ensure on-site operations are conducted in accordance with corporate policies and procedures within permit conditions and to customer specifications. 

● Supervise daily operations and provide leadership to the operating team and maintenance department. 

● Evaluate and prioritize incoming and outgoing load notifications and ensure that all scheduled work is completed accordingly. 

● Ensure all visitors to the site (Contractors, Brokers, etc.) are complying with site and corporate safety policies. 

● Maintain and implement new facility standard operating procedures (SOP’s).

● Maintain the facility’s Preventive Maintenance (PM) program. 

● Manage 3rd party service providers while on site. 

Maintain and manage all inventories of site consumables. 

● Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for the facility. 

● Create inventories of outbound loads and assure appropriate paperwork is accurate.

● Assist in troubleshooting technical issues and identification of root causes following process and equipment failures in order to develop corrective actions to avoid recurrence. 

● Review and recommend maintenance, repair and operating spare requirements and stocking levels. 

Knowledge, Skills and Key Competencies:

● Degree or diploma in a Technical or Engineering field. 

● Minimum of 3-5 years in a supervisory role is required, (Previous supervisory experience in a unionized environment in an industrial wastewater treatment, chemical, petro-chemical or related industry is highly preferred). 

● Strong analytical background. 

● Great interpersonal and communication skills are essential. 

● Proficient computer skills that must include Google Sheets, Google Docs, Gmail, OMS and Agile. 

● Flexible to work extended hours. 

Working Conditions 

Please be advised that personal protective equipment, such as a hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, respirators (if required) and safety boots are mandatory in the yard. A portion of your time will be required in an outdoor setting while exposed to the ambient weather conditions.

Skills Required
