Job Summary
The Operations Officer is responsible for ensuring the efficient day-to-day operations of the bank by supporting branch and back-office activities, ensuring compliance with operational policies and regulatory requirements, maintaining service quality, and facilitating seamless transaction processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily operational activities in line with the bank's policies and procedures.
- Process customer transactions accurately and within established turnaround times.
- Monitor daily branch operations to ensure efficiency and compliance.
- Ensure proper documentation and processing of account opening, account maintenance, and account closure requests.
- Verify customer documentation in line with Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements.
- Reconcile daily transactions, suspense accounts, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
- Monitor cash management activities and ensure adequate cash availability.
- Coordinate the processing of inward and outward transfers, standing orders, and other banking transactions.
- Ensure proper custody and control of sensitive operational instruments, including cheque books, security documents, and vault operations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Banking & Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2–5 years' experience in banking operations, preferably within a microfinance bank.
- Knowledge of microfinance banking operations and regulatory requirements.
- Professional certifications such as ACIB, ACA, ACCA, or relevant certifications will be an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of banking products, operational controls, and customer service standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Core Banking Systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Skills Required
