The Operations Manager is responsible for the daily management of the facility, focusing on chemical processing, compliance, and profitability. This role requires technical expertise to lead a team of inspectors/technicians, ensuring safety and quality standards are met while delivering exceptional service to our customers. The Operations Manager will also maintain a high functioning employee base through solid HR practices and safety education and awareness programs

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

 

General Functions:

  • Production & Operations: Manage daily shop activities, scheduling projects and technicians, supporting the chemical, coating, masking, and nondestructive processing departments.
  • Financial & Administrative: Drive business Profit and Loss (P&L) statements, budgeting, project quoting, and reviewing staff expense reports.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to environmental regulations (Air Quality, Stormwater, Wastewater Permits) and EHS management systems. Promote and enforce MISTRAS Drug/Alcohol and Safety Policy Manuals.
  • Customer Relations: Serve as the key contact for customer inquiries, technical assistance, and resolving issues promptly.
  • Quality Control: Review technical work, interpret blueprints to develop processing techniques/masking, and ensure accuracy in inspection reports.
  • Personnel Management: Evaluate, train, and supervise technicians, providing corrective action as required.
  • Manage daily activities and costs associated within the operations team.
  • Problem solving and providing clear, supported and concise recommendation to management.
  • Utilization of key performance indicators to increase customer value.
  • Serve as back up to the General Manager in their absence or upon request.
  • Review and approve expense reports submitted by technical support staff.
  • Properly complete all required forms and paperwork.
  • Provide administrative office assistance as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2-3 years of management experience in a production setting
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace and defense markets.
  • Strong communication skills to promote good team environment
  • Sales and/or marketing experience a plus

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
