Collaborating closely with the Branch Manager, this position plays a vital leadership role in driving operational performance, customer care, and sustainable branch growth in Swellendam. Office hours are Mon - Fri 07:30- 17:30 and Saturdays and Public Holidays: 08:00 – 13:00 on rotation.
Operational Leadership: Guide daily branch operations to foster departmental synergy, efficiency, and financial growth.
Team Mentorship & Growth: Support, coach, and develop department supervisors and operational staff to achieve their full potential.
Customer Care Excellence: Champion high standards of customer service and relationship-building across the branch.
Stock & Inventory Oversight: Partner with teams to manage stock levels, visual merchandising, housekeeping, and inventory controls to minimize shrinkage.
Logistics Coordination: Support and align receiving, dispatch, and warehouse logistics for seamless workflow.
Continuous Improvement: Conduct regular branch walkthroughs to identify process enhancements, resolve operational challenges, and maintain a welcoming branch environment.
People & Performance Support: Monitor team productivity, attendance, and well-being, providing constructive coaching and feedback.
Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and workplace policies to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers.
Reporting & Insights: Prepare operational insights and provide constructive feedback to senior management to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years’ management experience (preferably within hardware, retail, or building materials sectors).
Valid driver’s licence.
Proven leadership capabilities with a focus on team empowerment, collaboration, and staff development.
Strong organizational, administrative, and thoughtful problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize effectively and maintain composure when managing multiple operational areas.
Good computer literacy.
Experience within the hardware, building materials, or retail sectors.
