Mr Price Logistics has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Manager to be based at the Hammarsdale Distribution Centre. The aim of this role is to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the distribution centre, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality service delivery. The role will be responsible for driving performance, managing teams, and ensuring that operational goals align with business objectives.
ResponsibilitiesOperational Excellence
· Lead daily operations across receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch.
· Ensure OTIF (On Time In Full) delivery targets are met.
· Monitor and improve key metrics: cost per transaction, stock accuracy, lost time, WIP/stock age, and productivity.
· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards.
People Management
· Provide clear direction, delegate tasks, and ensure accountability.
· Drive performance through KPIs such as pick rate, order accuracy, and attendance.
· Conduct regular performance reviews and implement development plans.
· Foster a positive and engaging work environment to support staff retention and morale.
· Promote cross-training and upskilling to build a flexible, sustainable workforce.
Process & Continuous Improvement
· Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements using lean methodologies (e.g., 5S, Kaizen).
· Encourage a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
· Benchmark performance against industry standards and implement best practices.
· Deliver data-driven insights through performance analysis and reporting.
Resource & Capacity Planning
· Align staffing and equipment with operational demands and seasonal peaks.
· Manage shift planning, overtime, and resource allocation to meet service levels.
· Ensure optimal use of space, equipment, and technology.
Stakeholder & Customer Engagement
· Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Planning, Merchandising, Transport) to ensure alignment.
· Act as a liaison for customer queries and escalations, ensuring timely resolution and satisfaction.
· Provide regular feedback to divisional stakeholders on performance and improvement initiatives.
Budget & Cost Control
· Support the DC Manager in managing the operational budget.
· Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
· Track and report on financial performance, ensuring alignment with budget targets.
Qualifications· Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field.
· 5-7 years of experience in warehouse or operations management, preferably in retail/FMCG.
· Strong leadership and team management experience.
· Proficiency in WMS and operational reporting tools.
· Lean/Six Sigma certification is advantageous.
