Position: Operations Manager.
We are seeking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our team in Mashonaland West (Zimbabwe).
Resposibilities
Operational Management:
Oversee and manage all earthmoving and mining operations, including drilling, loading, hauling, dozing, road maintenance, and auxiliary services.
Ensure daily production targets are met safely, efficiently, and within budget.
Develop and implement short- and medium-term operational plans aligned with project goals.
Optimize equipment utilization, fleet allocation, and shift planning to maximize productivity.
Monitor key operational performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions where needed.
Coordinate closely with maintenance to ensure equipment availability and minimize downtime.
Ensure proper execution of mine plans in collaboration with survey and planning teams.
Lead daily operational meetings and provide clear direction to supervisors and team leaders.
Safety & Compliance:
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all operational teams.
Review and approve the SOP .
Make sure the Health and Safety Plan is properly implemented in the Daily tasks.
Ensure compliance with company HSE standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
Conduct regular inspections, risk assessments, and ensure proper control measures are in place.
Participate in incident investigations and drive implementation of corrective actions.
Make Sure Training and Verification of Competence Procedures are followed.
Environmental Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with site-specific environmental management plans and legal requirements.
Promote responsible waste management, dust suppression, and spill control measures.
Collaborate with environmental teams to minimize the environmental impact of operations.
Support initiatives to rehabilitate and maintain operational areas.
People & Resource Management:
Lead, coach, and develop operational supervisors and crews to achieve performance objectives.
Manage shift rosters, resource allocation, and personnel deployment.
Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Participate in recruitment, training, and performance management of operational personnel.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field, desirable but not mandatory.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in mining or large-scale earthmoving operations, or relevant experience with EPSA Group.
Strong knowledge of drilling, loading, hauling, and fleet management processes.
Proven track record in meeting production targets and managing large operational teams.
Familiarity with mine planning and survey operations.
Experience in open-pit mining or large-scale earthmoving projects.
Knowledge of OEM procedures and equipment (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu, Liebherr, Hitachi, Volvo).
Familiarity with HSE and environmental management systems.
Experience with fleet management and dispatch systems.
Exposure to remote or international project environments.
Certification in leadership, operations management, or project management (an asset).
