What You’ll Do

The Laredo Operations Manager will work onsite at the AOD Laredo, Texas office facility, and be responsible to oversee KPI driven day-to-day operation of border shipment activity.

  • Availability 24/7/365 for team, ensuring AOD processes are consistently delivered
  • Manage Laredo workloads: Ground, Cross-dock and Air Charter. Provide status clarity and PEAK system transparency.
  • Ensure shipments arrive/depart cross-dock with customs paperwork compliance
  • Identify new opportunities to build load consolidations`
  • Dispatch Ascent Expedite Owner/Operator Laredo fleet
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with assigned customers, suppliers and AOD operating teams across USA and Mexico.
  • Must be able to make sound operational and financial decisions on behalf of customer and company, based on established business rules
  • Ensure personnel needs of the department (Coaching / Development / Mentoring of team members). Coordinate employee work schedules, and PTO on a regular basis to ensure coverage that meets operational needs. 
  • Maintain proficiency in all computer systems / websites used by AOD and assigned customer

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); no specified experience and/or training.
  • Must be able to think and react quickly to problem situations.
  • Must be able to remain calm during adverse conditions.
  • Must be a creative “solution finder” and possess the ability to inspire others to seek creative solutions.
  • Ability to understand transportation marketplace (geography, time zones).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a passion to live Ascent On-Demand corporate values.
  • Demonstrated performance of the following skillsets: customer service etiquette, quality mindset, “grace under pressure”, active listening, and commitment to excellence.
  • Working knowledge of all departments as they effect customer service and its quality.
  • General knowledge and/or experience of cross-dock operations including documentation requirements.
  • General knowledge and/or experience of cargo load capability of various truck and aircraft types
  • General knowledge and/or experience of hazardous materials requirements
  • General capability to determine transit times and HOS.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in rate negotiations with both buyers and sellers.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve issues.
  • Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple activities to meet deadlines.
  • Able to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with management, various departments, CSPSAs and customers.
