Role Overview:
Could you be our next Aviation Operations Manager? Globe Life is looking for an Aviation Operations Manager to join the team!
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations, safety, compliance, and efficiency of aviation activities within the organization. This role ensures all flight operations, ground support, scheduling, maintenance coordination, and personnel management are executed in accordance with FAA regulations and company standards. The Aviation Operations Manager provides leadership to aviation staff, optimizes operational performance, and supports strategic planning for the aviation department.
This is an on-site position located in McKinney, Texas.
What You Will Do:
Operational Oversight
- Manage daily aviation operations, including flight scheduling, dispatch, crew coordination, and ground services.
- Ensure aircraft availability, readiness, and timely dispatch for all missions or flights.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to monitor aircraft status, inspections, and service requirements.
- Oversee airport operations procedures, ramp activities, fueling, hangar operations, and logistics.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with FAA regulations, company manuals, and industry safety standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of aviation rules, operational changes, and compliance requirements.
- Support audit preparation and participate in internal and external inspections.
Safety & Risk Management
- Lead safety programs, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Ensure the implementation of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct regular safety briefings, training, and operational audits.
Team Leadership
- Supervise flight operations staff, dispatchers, coordinators, and ground personnel.
- Provide training, performance feedback, and professional development to team members.
- Establish staffing plans, shift assignments, and workload distribution.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Manage flight schedules, crew assignments, duty/rest compliance, and resource planning.
- Collaborate with pilots, maintenance personnel, airport authorities, and external partners.
- Ensure efficient and seamless communication across all aviation departments.
Administrative & Financial Management
- Monitor department budgets, operating costs, and vendor contracts.
- Assist with procurement of aviation supplies, equipment, and service agreements.
- Prepare operational reports, performance metrics, and improvement recommendations.
Process Improvement
- Analyze operations workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement best practices in aviation operations, maintenance coordination, and ground handling.
What You Can Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, Aeronautical Science, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5–10+ years of aviation operations experience; leadership experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations (Part 91, 121, or 135 depending on your environment).
- Experience with flight scheduling systems, dispatch, maintenance coordination, and ground operations.
- Familiarity with Safety Management Systems (SMS) and quality assurance programs.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Pilot or aircraft dispatcher certification is a plus (not always required).
- Core competencies in Operational Leadership, Regulatory Compliance, Safety & SMS Expertise, Crew & Resource Management, Communication & Collaboration, Problem-Solving & Decision-Making, and Situational Awareness & Crisis Management.
