Summary

Utilizing teamwork, this position is responsible for leading and coordinating the operations of a warehouse facility. This includes ensuring and improving the safety, quality, productivity, cost control, and positive employee relations using the principles of TPS, and other strategies outlined by the company and division directives. The Group leader will lead a team in order to carry out the organizations mission.

What You'll Do

  • Support management in executing the goals set for the various departments within the facility.
  • Utilizes/Ensures Hoshin and FMDS is used to communicate the organization’s expectations and results.
  • Ensure effective controls are being followed in order to meet customer and company inventory levels (FIFO, FEFO, cycle counts, etc.).
  • Monitor the purchasing of supplies and other expenditures to ensure budget is being met and not exceeded.
  • Ensure the facilities safety program is being followed in order to meet OSHA and company expectations.
  • Ensure targets for safety performance are being met including leading indicators (Hiyari Hatto, Behavioral Based Safety, etc.) and lagging indicators are being met (incident rates).
  • Ensure safety performance is being improved.
  • Ensure prompt investigation, reporting and countermeasure of safety incidents and audits.
  • Ensures employees have a safety voice through an active safety committee.
  • Ensure productivity of responsible departments within the facility.
  • Ensure targets for productivity performance is being met.
  • Analyzes data to improve productivity and implement improvements.
  • Confirm adequate tools and equipment is available for a safe and productive operation.
  • Confirm preventive maintenance is being performed for the building and production equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Confirm the facilities quality control measures are being utilized to meet internal and external customer
  • expectations.
  • Ensures, follows, and meets targets for quality performance.
  • Analyzes data to improve quality and implement improvements.
  • Ensure the effective use of human resources for the facility.
  • Delegates tasks and accountability within facility.
  • Ensure training is executed and development plans for the various levels of team members to support succession planning and effective operation. 
  • Coaches, counsels, and disciplines subordinates as required.
  • Works closely with the team to exceed internal customer expectations and ensure additional value-added services are implemented.
  • Responds promptly to internal customer issues and concerns with root cause and countermeasures within the specified timeframe.
  • Ensure the facility is compliant to company (ISO14001) and government environmental standards.
  • Supports management with compliance of company policies (HR, Safety, Internal Controls, IT, Accounting, Security, etc.) and other directives are communicated, implemented, and observed throughout the organization.
  • Submit reports to the Supervisor within the specified time frame and with accuracy.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

What You Need

  • High School Diploma or GED required; collage degree preferred.
  • 3-years experience including supervisory experience.
  • Experience with operations management utilizing a quality management system, process improvements, creation of standardized work, an understanding of TPS and problem-solving principles.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
