Your Role:
Facilitate safe, efficient, and mission-centered volunteer engagement at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) by guiding packing sessions, providing exceptional hospitality, and supporting site operations to ensure a clean, organized, and welcoming experience. Perform repetitive warehousing tasks. Pay, Schedule, & Benefits:
  • This is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position. The set starting pay is $17.45 per hour. This is not a seasonal position.
  • Regularly scheduled for part-time hours to include a combination of weekdays, weeknights, and Saturdays, subject to staffing needs. Occasional Sunday and holiday availability required. Must occasionally pick up sub shifts.
  • Monthly trainings and meetings are required.

What You’ll Do:
  • Provide exceptional hospitality: warmly greet volunteers, answer questions, provide clear instructions, engage in friendly conversations, and express appreciation for their contribution to FMSC.
  • Orchestrate packing sessions. Anticipate needs, troubleshoot problems, and remain flexible with the unpredictability of a volunteer workforce.
  • Clean and set up supplies before and after each volunteer packing session.
  • Monitor the time, manage transitions, flex with changing production needs, and track production.
  • Provide packing and clean-up instructions to a large group of volunteers.
  • Lead a Christian prayer over packaged food and invite volunteers to join.
  • Conduct retail and donation transactions on a cash register.
  • Clean, label inventory, palletize boxes, and store pallets using a pallet jack.
  • Maintain a clean and food-safe facility, which includes doing laundry and cleaning floors, dishes, and bathrooms several times per day.
  • Uphold food safety, food quality, volunteer safety, and personnel safety policies and procedures. Ensure compliance.
  • Assist with site initiatives and special projects. Ex:, implementing safety processes, handling retail inventory, reorganizing materials, or training peers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications:
  • Passionate about FMSC’s Christian mission and living it out in the workplace.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent and 1 year proven work experience.
  • Able to exert yourself physically for a 6-8 hour shift. Able to walk and stand in intervals up to 6 hours. Able to push, pull, lift 30-50 lbs. repeatedly, bend, twist, and use hand tools like utility knives.
  • Thrives in a team setting. Able to pitch in, fill in gaps, remain flexible, ask for help, and share responsibilities.
  • Able to confidently instruct large groups.
  • Focused on hospitality: can build rapport and resolve volunteer concerns.
  • Able to identify and solve problems. Responsible and able to use good judgment and discretion.
  • Respect and value FMSC’s volunteers and supporters, varying in beliefs, backgrounds, and abilities.
  • Able to tolerate consistent exposure to soy (an allergen).
