While the primary location for this role is Essity’s Springvale site in Australia, we’re also open to the position being based at our Kawerau site in New Zealand.

About the Role:

As an Operational Technology Engineer, you’ll lead and develop digitalization processes across Essity’s manufacturing sites, ensuring optimal use of resources to enhance equipment, processes, and maintenance. This role is pivotal in driving Industry 4.0 technologies and supporting continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You Will Do:
  • Manage and maintain key digital systems for manufacturing operations.

  • Lead the implementation of Essity’s Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) such as Proficy, Plain, and Rubik.

  • Lead development and implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies (AI, IIoT, VR, Machine Learning).

  • Configure systems, maintain master data, and implement updates.

  • Provide first-level support for MES and other digital applications.

  • Develop training materials and onboard users on digital systems.

  • Promote best practices and continuous improvement to achieve zero-breakdown and zero-stop goals.

  • Actively integrate safety leadership behaviors into all processes.

Who You Are:
  • Degree-qualified in process or production engineering.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally in FMCG manufacturing.

  • Strong affinity with IT and digitalization, with experience leading projects.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Safety-focused, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.

  • Bonus: Experience with Proficy, Historian, Plain, or other types of MES applications, and feasibility studies.
