Financial And Operational Risk Specialist - Commercial Insurance, Finpro & Cyber (Hybrid - Buffalo, NY)
Responsible for managing the Bank’s commercial insurance programs with a focus on Financial Lines (FINPRO), Cyber, and structured finance-related coverages. This role requires hands-on experience with policy management, Mortgage Impairment /GSE requirements, invoicing, policy tracking, and claims coordination within a financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support Commercial Insurance programs, including FINPRO and Cyber
- Oversee coverage for mortgage impairment, master trust structures, and bond-related exposures
- Maintain and track insurance policies, renewals, endorsements, limits, and coverage details
- Coordinate and issue Certificates of Insurance (COIs), including support for GSE requirements
- Review and process insurance invoices, premium payments, and allocations
- Ensure accurate tracking of policy documentation, claims activity, and coverage records
- Partner with Finance, Legal, Risk, executive team, and external brokers/carriers to align coverage with exposures
- Monitor claims and loss trends and communicate emerging risk themes
- Support reporting, audits, and regulatory requests related to insurance and operational risk
- Maintain clear documentation and support governance activities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and five years' experience in Financial Lines and Professional Lines insurance, which includes:- Direct experience managing Commercial Insurance programs, including:
- FINPRO (D&O, E&O, Crime) and Cyber insurance
- GSE requirements and understanding
- COI issuance based on client and GSE requirements
- Policy tracking, renewals, and documentation management
- Invoice review, premium payment, and reconciliation
- Strong understanding of insurance policy structure and coverage interpretation
- Experience working with brokers, carriers, and internal finance teams
- Experience in banking, lending, or structured finance environments
- Knowledge of mortgage impairment, master trust, or bond-related insurance structures
- Background in claims tracking or insurance program administration
- Ability to manage multiple insurance programs with regulatory and deadline pressures
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree
- Five years' experience in Financial Lines and Professional Lines insurance
- Prior experience as an Account Manager or Account Executive
- Demonstrated understanding of insurance placement, renewal cycles, and policy documentation
- Experience supporting insurance programs through administrative activities
