About the team:
ASX Compliance is the division responsible for the supervision of market participants and issuers listed on the exchange and is at the front line of ASX’s core license obligations to monitor and enforce the market’s operating rules that helps maintain a fair, orderly, transparent and efficient market—protecting not only the interests of investors but also the reputation of Australia’s financial system as a whole.
Within the division, the Transformation and Operational Performance (TOP) team is a multi-disciplinary team of process, systems, data, and risk professionals that collectively enables the ASX Compliance division to achieve its strategic outcomes.
Reporting to the General Manager of Transformation and Operational Performance (TOP), the role is responsible for driving operational excellence through robust process and control mechanisms. Interacts closely with the front line and other parts of ASX involved in the end-to-end process for supervision of issuers to ensure operating standards are consistently applied and continuously improved. This will include supporting the implementation of common practices across the division to improve operational effectiveness and efficiencies, operational risk management, and business resilience.
What you will be doing:

Operational excellence
Working with subject matter experts (SMEs), develop proficient knowledge of the division’s operational processes and procedures and regularly conduct critical analysis of the ‘as is’ or current state.
Working with SME’s, write clear and easily understood process, procedure and training documents. Keep abreast of changes to operating processes and ensure documents are regularly refreshed and kept up to date.
Map key processes and practices, maintain the division’s process map library, updating these where required. Drive the design and implementation of future state processes including designing and operating effective controls for critical steps within processes.
Develop feedback mechanisms to monitor performance to agreed operating standards. Monitor and analyse performance metrics to assess overall performance
Business Resilience
Lead the analysis and assessment of business resilience posture against potential failure scenarios using structured methodologies. Regularly undertake research on external best practices and industry standards
Drive the development of business continuity playbooks and coordinate testing, training and awareness of these playbooks across the function.
Drive the design and delivery of resilience uplift initiatives collaborating with stakeholders for end-to-end approaches to resilience. Develop reporting, dashboards and metrics to measure resilience performance
Support incident management coordination activities
Operational risk management
Develop action plans to support issue management including developing required artefacts to evidence issue / action closure. Monitor and update progress reports on open issues and action to ensure these are adequately completed within agreed timeframes.
Drive and champion a ‘lesson learnt’ framework and process to drive a culture of analysis and learning from incidents and near misses.
Undertake reviews and help define sustaining mechanisms to support the embedding of uplifted practices including collaborating with line 1 risk and compliance partners in control uplift efforts.
Provide regular reporting to senior stakeholders on issue trends and resolution progress.
Continuous improvement
Identify and implement opportunities to augment/ automate workflows, reduce manual touchpoints and increasing use of data to support operational performance.
Lead and/or support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives. Prepare and maintain high quality documentation, including well-defined problem statements, target outcomes, options, recommendations, requirements and implementation and training plans. Provide regular status reporting.
Perform end to end project implementation related activities including business analysis, project management, testing, change management and implementation. Ensure assigned items are delivered efficiently and effectively aligned to ASX delivery practices.
What you will bring:
Must have
A tertiary qualification in business administration, operational excellence, engineering, organisational development and/or 5+ years’ experience in similar operating environments to ASX, with at least 2 years in operational performance and/or business resilience roles
Awareness of and ability to identify and navigate relevant external standards
Certifications in relevant industry practices such as process improvement and ways of working methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile)
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document clear operational procedures
Experience in designing, developing, implementing and embedding processes and systems and related controls
Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders
Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
Organised and diligent, keen attention to details, and a commitment to accuracy and quality.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of the workings of capital markets
Understanding of regulatory frameworks (e.g. CPS 230) and risk management principles
Proficiency in SQL and dashboard creation using Tableau or other BI tools.
