About the Role:
As a Project Manager within Oliver Wyman’s Internal Consulting Hub (ICH), you will be a generalist executing a broad range of projects including (but not limited to) determining strategy, evolving operations, and/or implementing technology changes. You will be part of the Internal Consulting Hub (ICH) team, a global function reporting to the Global Head of Change, which drives high priority projects that have strategic importance to Oliver Wyman and owns cross-functional proprietary tools and processes of the firm.
Projects will usually be of strategic importance to Oliver Wyman, have a senior leader sponsor and involve multiple stakeholders across Oliver Wyman whether different parts of the business, functions or geographies. As a Project Manager in Oliver Wyman, you will be expected to have a broad set of role-specific skills both technical (e.g., analysis) and core competencies (e.g., meeting management) and be able to leverage a broad toolkit of project management practices to suit the project situation. You will need to be a subject matter expert of how Oliver Wyman runs (which you will be expected to learn rapidly on the job) and excel in communication and problem solving. Independent execution of a project requires the Project Manager to be able to play the roles across the seniority chain of a project team from analyst to project leader.
Characteristics of projects for this level of role will be at the more straight-forward end of the spectrum of complexity (e.g. single senior sponsor, single department and/or region) with a largely defined deliverable (e.g., a single technology tool implementation, a process change confined to single department, a well-defined workstream to a larger program). The role is expected to drive-forward a project independently. Ability to manage more complex projects will result in progression in the role.
** Please note: this position is not part of the IT team **
Key Responsibilities:
Lead with autonomy a broad range of high-impact projects from initiation (e.g., setting-up governance, forming the project team), execution (e.g., driving activity of the project team, managing senior stakeholders for steer and decisions, solving problems), through to successful completion (e.g., training, launch, post-mortem)
Collaborate with a diverse range of colleagues across functions, the business, and external parties.
Prepare and lead all types of meetings and working sessions effectively with participants from all levels of the firm including high frequency interaction with senior leaders both one-on-one and in large groups
Be a subject matter expert of the organization, its operations and processes, and how everything is connected
Manage (and mentor) colleagues within a project team and/or the ICH function which will consist of a diverse range of colleagues across the business, the departments, and external parties
May be required to own operations related to projects until home of best fit is established
Experience Required:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in project/program or product management role, preferably in the professional services sector
Demonstrates a track record of navigating uncertainty, asking smart questions, complex problem solving and conflict resolution
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and meeting tools (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom)
Digital fluency including ability to leverage evolving GenAI capabilities
Fluent in business English
