To be eligible for participation in the GPTLHB Clinical Rotation Program, applicants must have a confirmed preceptor, sponsoring department, academic program, or designated staff sponsor. The Great Plains Tribal Leaders Health Board (GPTLHB) Clinical Rotation Program provides undergraduate, graduate, and professional students with meaningful clinical learning opportunities in a variety of healthcare disciplines. Participants gain hands-on experience while working alongside healthcare professionals dedicated to serving the Tribal Nations of the Great Plains. Through these experiences, students develop practical skills, expand their professional knowledge, and gain exposure to culturally responsive healthcare delivery.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for participation in the GPTLHB Clinical Rotation Program, students must:

  • Be enrolled in, or accepted for enrollment in, an accredited college, university, technical school, or professional program and maintain at least half-time student status. Recent graduates may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills appropriate for a clinical learning environment.
  • Comply with all program requirements and GPTLHB policies, procedures, confidentiality standards, and professional conduct expectations.
  • Demonstrate basic proficiency in technology necessary to complete educational and clinical activities, including:
    • Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook);
    • Email communication and file attachments; and
    • General internet and web-based applications.

Additional Requirements

Students selected for a clinical rotation may be required to complete additional onboarding and compliance requirements before beginning their placement, including:

  • Background screening;
  • Drug screening;
  • Required immunization and health clearance documentation; including most recent COVID-19
  • HIPAA and confidentiality training;
  • Organizational orientation and mandatory training; and
  • Other requirements as determined by GPTLHB, the academic institution, or the clinical placement site.
