Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, you will join ABB's Digital Industry – Genix Platform Engineering organization as a Software Engineer – Observability Platform. You will contribute to building and enhancing enterprise-grade observability capabilities that provide end-to-end operational visibility across industrial edge-to-cloud environments. Working closely with Platform Engineering, SRE/DevOps, and Product Engineering teams, you will develop scalable cloud-native solutions that improve platform reliability, telemetry insights, and operational efficiency.
This role is contributing to the Digital Industry – Genix Platform Engineering function in Bangalore, India.

You will be mainly accountable for- Design, develop, and enhance scalable observability platform capabilities, including telemetry pipelines, backend services, APIs, microservices, and user interfaces that provide end-to-end operational visibility across industrial edge-to-cloud environments.
- Build and maintain reusable Grafana dashboards, plugins, and operational analytics capabilities while integrating modern observability technologies such as Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, and OpenTelemetry.
- Collaborate with Platform Engineering, SRE/DevOps, and Product Engineering teams to improve platform reliability, onboard services, troubleshoot distributed systems, and deliver secure, scalable cloud-native solutions.
- Contribute across the complete software development lifecycle by delivering high-quality, maintainable code, participating in design, testing, release, support, documentation, and continuous platform improvements.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 4–8 years of experience in software development, preferably in platform engineering, observability platforms, or cloud-native enterprise applications.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo/Jaeger, and OpenTelemetry for building enterprise observability solutions.
- Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and backend technologies such as Node.js, Python, or Go, with experience developing APIs and microservices.
- Experience with Kubernetes (preferably Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)), cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and CI/CD practices.
- Good understanding of telemetry ingestion, monitoring, logging, operational analytics, and troubleshooting complex distributed applications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Platform Engineering, SRE/DevOps, Product Engineering, and Customer Delivery teams.

Skills Required
